Job description
**Experience**
- Knowledge of and experience with the care of egg layers in a modern production facility.
**Education and Skills**
- Grade 12 education and strong English (written and verbal) and mathematical skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Able to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively.
- Able to work in a fast pace environment, thinking and reacting quickly, and making fast yet accurate decisions.
- Ability to complete inventory, daily logs, charts and reports.
To become competent in this position, approximately four weeks of on-the-job training would be required to learn the basic requirements of the job, as well as additional working experience learning all aspects of this job.
**General Description of the Job**:
This position is responsible for the care of a barn of layers ensuring maximum health, meeting body weight goals and other indicators of healthy production. Daily monitoring of the barn in order to:
1. Monitor, record and interpret water metre readings
2. Monitor, record and interpret feed and feed inventory
3. Inspect ventilation equipment
4. Check for and remove any mortality
5. Utilize egg packing machine to pack eggs onto fibre trays and store in the cooler room.
6. Maintain barn to On Farm Food Safety and Animal Care Program Standards
7. Operate manure removal system
8. All other duties assigned by Sector Supervisor.
The farm is a 24/7 operation and as such requires that staff are on site every day of the week. Applicants are required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). One consistent day off is scheduled every week to account for this (for example every Thursday is scheduled off).

**Salary**: From $19.35 per hour
