Retail Receiving Associate

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Retail Receiving Associate is responsible for all functions related to the receipt and processing of retail store merchandise entering and leaving the building, as well as the upkeep of merchandise within the store and maintaining the backroom. This involves unloading of the Home Hardware delivery truck, checking incoming merchandise against invoices to identify shortages, damaged goods, backorders and processing special orders. This position will also ensure stock is put away in the correct areas, and that the warehouse and check-in areas are neat, clean, and orderly.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Receiving:_
- Coordinate product flow to the sales floor and assist, as needed, fellow associates with the placement of product.
- Track, trace and update status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Coordinates activities surrounding retail store merchandise receiving.
- Unload the Home Hardware delivery truck.
- Unpack, inspect, sort and put stock away in appropriate locations.
- Organize stock and maintain inventories.
- Ensure pallets and shelving units are in good working conditions.
- Move heavy and/or bulky merchandise for customers and for retail sales associates.
- Move merchandise from receiving / warehouse to sales-floor.
- Maintain maximum security in warehouse and check-in areas.
- Ensure that correct freight handling equipment is used to load and unload trucks.
- Ensure that all safety precautions are taken when loading and unloading trucks.
- Prevent loss and damage to merchandise in the receiving area.
- General:_
- Operate two-way radio and cellphone to receive instruction and provide updates.
- Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Work on additional duties, special projects and assignments as assigned by the Floor Manager or General Manager.
- Assist customers on sales floor when needed or assigned.
- Always maintain professional demeanour and behave in a manner befitting company policy and expectations.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience working in retail, logistics or customer service sector.
- Previous receiving related work experience preferred.
- Requires close attention to detail reviewing invoices, entering numbers, counting, etc.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Ability to understand, create and execute planograms.
- Solid decision making and planning skills.
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail accuracy required.
- Strong mathematics competency required.
- Capability to take initiative and work independently and with others.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends, evenings and holidays.
- A satisfactory criminal reference check.
- Forklift Certification is an asset, we do have an in-house training program.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Reports directly to the Store Manager.
- Standing/walking for 8+ hours.
- Lifting and/or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise items may vary in weight up to 50lbs.
- Climbing up and down ladders throughout the shift.
- Lifting and turning repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Lifting above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist.
- Walking and carrying at the same time & pushing/pulling as required.
- Twisting, turning, reaching and working above shoulder level.

**Salary**: $16.55-$17.50 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- Day shift
