Momentum Design Build, a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time **Carpenter/Apprentice** to join the team on various projects in the Nanaimo and Central Island area.

**Compensation**
- Journeyperson Carpenter - $35 to $37 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- 4th-year Carpentry Apprentice - $31.50 per hour.
- 3rd-year Carpentry Apprentice - $29.05 per hour.

**Summary**

The Carpenter is responsible for assisting in the construction of residences and buildings. This includes all aspects of the building process in concrete, steel, and wood frame construction.

Knowledge of construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety. The Carpenter must be proficient in building envelope detailing, interior & exterior finishing, forming & framing layout and assembly including stairs and common rafters, reading blueprints, and mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates and carpentry calculations.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of most aspects of carpentry and new construction practices.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures as per WorkSafe BC.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR, certification is an asset.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Client service, public interaction skills, and experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds.
- Able to do layout, framing, and finishing of typical projects, including a variety of room additions, and renovations.
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
- Collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
