The **Foreman **is accountable for the safe and effective construction of projects, and material management for all placing crew activities for A&H Steel, Ltd. Duties include, but are not limited to providing leadership and guidance to placing crew staff in the areas of safety, quality control, and schedule. Field Foremen will be primarily responsible for the execution phase of their specifically assigned projects. Administrative requirements include materials ordering and tracking, input into the development of standard work methods, as-builds, human resources and regular reporting of project status. **It is a requirement of this position to become a member of the Ironworkers Local 97 union.**
**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:
- Support field employees in their activities to ensure their responsibilities are fulfilled.
- Train, coach, mentor and provide performance feedback to placing crew team.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with work plans and schedules.
- Responsible for ensuring highest level of quality is maintained for each project and completed in accordance with industry standards.
- Responsible for input into base drawings.
- Responsible for Improvements on cost control and increasing overall placing crew efficiency.
- Responsible for material management for project materials.
- Responsible to implement, as directed by the Superintendent, industry practices and procedures that impact A&H’s placing department.
- Provide progress reports and identify issues with potential solutions for detailing and delivering products within scheduled timeframe.
- Responsible for producing daily/weekly progress reports.
- Ensure all field placing staff adheres to A&H’s Health, Safety and Environment practices and procedures, and to be a chairperson for tool box-safety meetings as required.
- Responsible to uphold company and placing standards for cleanliness, workmanship and specifications to ensure they meet legislative and safety code requirements.
- Accountable to maintain Execution Plans for each project.
- Accountable to submit a clear and concise timecard and extra work order reports by Monday morning of each week, for the week prior.
- Responsible to manage all project materials including surplus material.
- Responsible for providing improvement feedback on detailing and manufacturing efficiencies through innovative approaches to management.
- Assist in the development and suggest improvements for A&H standards with other groups including detailing, and Shipping/ receiving for efficient project completions, and a high quality finished product.
**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:
- Comprehensive knowledge construction industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction work methods.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal, communication, and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
- The incumbent must have a valid operator’s license.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Efficient time management skills.
**Compensation and Benefits**
Compensation and Benefits are as per the Ironworkers Local 97 collective agreement, plus Vacation, Health and Wellness, Pension premiums.
