We are seeking a GIS Analyst to join our team, working collaboratively to enhance data-driven decision-making, geographic data management, and infrastructure planning for the community.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
- Analyze spatial data using ArcGIS and other GIS software to identify patterns, trends, and correlations.
- Integrate external data sets (e.g., demographic, environmental) with spatial data to enhance analysis and decision-making.
- Design and create detailed digital maps using geographic and external data, presenting information in clear and visually engaging formats.
- Develop shapefiles to overlay and integrate external data with topographical and geographic maps for more comprehensive analysis.
- Create maps that show spatial distributions of key features such as fire hydrants, lease land, permitting locations, and culturally significant sites.
- Develop custom map visualizations for stakeholders, incorporating both static and interactive mapping solutions.
- Convert and digitize physical maps into digital formats, ensuring accurate data representation for use in GIS systems.
- Clean and process spatial data for improved accuracy and usability, performing data munging and transformation tasks.
- Ensure data integrity by performing regular audits and updates to the spatial database.
- Build and automate custom mapping tools for specific projects, enabling more efficient workflows
- Produce detailed quarterly reports on geographic data analysis, incorporating visualizations, insights and trends for use by management and other stakeholders.
- Provide on-demand reports as required for special projects or specific data requests.
- Manage and maintain a digital library of geographic maps in various file formats, ensuring easy access and proper documentation for team use.
- Organize and archive all spatial data and map layers, ensuring up-to-date records and backups are available for future use.
- Ensure all mapping and data projects comply with local, regional, and national data privacy regulations and GIS standards.
- Stay updated with emerging GIS technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve data accuracy, analysis capabilities, and system performance.

**WHAT YOU BRING**

**Qualifications**
- A Bachelor’s degree in either software engineering, geography, anthropology, Indigenous Peoples knowledge or related field or a related field. We also recognize and value cultural knowledge and experience gained through other forms of education and training, including teachings from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working within First Nations communities, focusing on datasets or data entry experience.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to take datasets and process them into meaningful, useful, and relevant information.
- Experience with mapping tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS and or Carto.
- Experience with GPS measuring tools.

**Preferred**:

- Lived experience as a member of a First Nations community.
- Knowledge and understanding of Seabird Island’s culture, traditions, teachings, community dynamics.
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally to community or colleague needs and inquiries.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
