**Safety Officer**

**Knowledge & Skills Required**
- Class 2 driver's license an asset, class 5 is a minimum requirement (license upgrade will be offered)
- Clear driver’s abstract
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Completion of Occupational Health and Safety Certificate is desired. Safety designations or certifications (CRSP, CRST, CTSP, NCSO, CHSC, etc) are an asset.
- Post-secondary education and/or training in leadership or management considered an asset
- Knowledge of WCB Claims Management and Return to Work planning
- Previous experience in a school bus operation is preferred; other experience in transportation will also be considered
- Knowledge of National Safety Code (NSC), Transportation Audits and Compliance
- Previous experience with Certificate of Recognition (COR) Programs is an asset

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist with the development of the company’s safety culture and program
- Incident / Collision investigations, cause analysis, file management and reporting
- WCB reporting and administration
- Monitor operations to ensure staff comply with safety rules, policies, procedures and government regulations
- Supervise Safety Administrative Assistant
- Plan and present on various topics at staff safety meetings
- Familiarize prospective employees with SOUTHLAND policies
- CRC (Collision Review Committee), road reviews
- Maintain precise and up-to-date paperwork and time keeping
- Preparation for yearly Safety Audits
- Approximate 50/50 split between office and field level engagement with staff

**Working Conditions**

The office is located at 13503 - 149 Street. Typical office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Holidays are taken around the needs of SOUTHLAND and the boards it serves and therefore are not taken during blackout periods.

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
