Gender-based Violence Prevention Coordinator

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Programs, the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Coordinator (GBV Coordinator) is responsible for the coordination and direct service provision of programs that support children and youth who have experienced gender-based violence. This includes overseeing the Y’s Kids program, Run Club, and Connections Recreation Group, as well as co-planning the Power of Being You Conference. The GBV Coordinator ensures the successful delivery of trauma-informed interventions, direct support services, and community outreach efforts to address the needs of children, youth, and caregivers navigating the impacts of violence.
This role requires strong case management, program facilitation, and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to foster meaningful relationships with external partners, schools, and community organizations. They will work collaboratively across the YWCA’s Community Programs department and maintain a high standard of service delivery that aligns YWCA Regina’s values and policies.
**Responsibilities**:
**Program Coordination & Service Delivery**
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and facilitation of two (2) 10-week group sessions in the fall and winter and one (1) 7-week session in the spring for children and youth impacted by violence.
- Provide direct, one-on-one support and case management to children and caregivers needing additional intervention beyond group programming.
- Facilitate caregiver involvement in parallel support groups, ensuring a trauma-informed approach that meets the needs of both children and parents.
- Lead recruitment, screening, and mentorship of volunteer facilitators to support program delivery.
- Ensure thorough intake assessments, participant tracking, and program evaluations to measure impact and inform service improvements.
- Oversee Run Club coordination during July and August, including volunteer recruitment and co-facilitation, culminating in participation in the Queen City Marathon.
- Collaborate on the planning and execution of the Power of Being You Conference, focusing on gender-based violence prevention and youth engagement.
**Community Engagement & Advocacy**
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, referral agencies, justice organizations, and community partners to strengthen service pathways.
- Promote awareness of gender-based violence, intergenerational trauma, and systemic barriers affecting children and youth.
- Support caregivers and children in navigating social services, justice systems, and advocacy processes to ensure access to necessary resources.
- Actively participate in YWCA community initiatives, outreach events, and public education efforts related to violence prevention.
**Administration & Accountability**
- Maintain accurate case notes, participant files, and statistical records for program evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Ensure compliance with funding agreements and organizational policies by tracking budget expenditures and reporting on program outcomes.
- Collaborate with YWCA leadership to identify funding opportunities and contribute to program development and sustainability planning.
- Stay informed on best practices in trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive frameworks, and youth-focused interventions through professional development and training.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in social work, justice studies, psychology, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth affected by violence, trauma, or systemic barriers.
- Strong understanding of gender-based violence, intergenerational trauma, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to facilitate group programming and individual case management using a client-centered approach.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and mentorship.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and crisis response skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and administrative tasks effectively.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and an understanding of the impacts of colonization on family and community dynamics.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and First Aid/CPR certification.
