Reporting to the Payroll and Scheduling Manager, the Payroll Coordinator will work within the team of Payroll and Scheduling and Finance within the Edmonton Head
Office. Work collaboratively with other departments within and outside of Head Office. Act as an ambassador and role model of the Mission, Vision and Values of GSS/GSC.

The Payroll Coordinator will utilize the payroll processes to ensure payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner. Provide guidance and assist payroll administrators with elevated payroll inquiries. Maintain the payroll database and employee files in compliance with department policies, collective agreement provisions, government and employment legislations.

**Educational and other Qualifications**
- Canadian Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification-Required

- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal efficiently with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner
- Ability to identify and respond to payroll issues with immediate action
- Adept at written and oral communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective work practice - is accountable, dependable, and flexible, perseveres, sets goals, meets deadlines, and is results oriented.
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to multitask in order to meet the organizational needs and deadlines
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare payroll reports for management review and analysis
- Develop and implement best practices for payroll administration to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Accept, implement and evaluate change with a positive attitude
- Willingness to join and participate in projects and committees

Work Experience
- A minimum of three years’ experience in payroll and benefit administration
- A minimum of one year working experience processing payroll in a unionized environment
- Advanced competence in MS Office

**Requirements**:

- A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
