**Job Description**: In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Director, Energy, Environment & Climate Change, the Manager, Energy Management is accountable and responsible for all aspects of energy management* within Island Health. This includes energy efficiency and conservation as well as greenhouse-gas (GHG) reduction. Utilizing a team consisting of energy consultants and specialists, building automation specialists, and an operating budget of approximately $200,000 to $400,000 for studies and engineering services, The Manager provides leadership and management to effectively coordinate the identification, promotion and buy-in (through stakeholder consensus), implementation and evaluation of energy and GHG reduction projects and programs. This includes responsibility for preparing and updating a long term Strategic Energy Management Plan (SEMP) which details how Island Health can meet its energy and GHG reduction objectives and targets and satisfy Provincially mandated policies on climate change mitigation. - In the context of this job description, energy management includes management of electricity, fossil fuels, and water used to operate Island Health facilities. **QUALIFICATIONS**: **Education, Training And Experience**: A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a master's degree in engineering, business, planning, sustainability or a related discipline plus five (5) years' experience managing people and projects in an energy or related field. In addition, one or more of the following: - Registered Professional Engineer - Registered Engineering Technologist - Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification in a related field, for example LEED AP. - Masters in Clean Energy - Journeyman Electrician, HVAC Technician, or Power Engineer (4th class minimum). - Certification in Facilities Management **Skills And Abilities**: - Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for energy management, sustainability, or related field - Proven ability to develop and communicate a business case - High level of knowledge of energy efficiency and conservation technologies and best practices - Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, boilers, building automation, lighting, envelope) - Proven ability to manage budgets and experience in financial analysis - Demonstrated "continuous improvement" approach to the job - Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and interpersonal skills - Experience supervising or managing in hospital facilities maintenance and operations - Experience with designing, commissioning or optimizing building HVAC systems in healthcare - Knowledge of the special design and operating requirements for hospitals in Canada **Job Requirements**:
