**Job Summary**
The Field Service Technician will be testing and certifying the performance of ventilation systems for critical environments such as cleanrooms and hospitals, testing and certifying laboratory workstations such as biological safety cabinets and chemical fume hoods plus a numerous calibrated laboratory instruments such as incubators and centrifuges.
We work in a variety of environments including medical research labs, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, hospitals and government operated laboratories and facilities. When required we perform repairs to clean air devices and provide customers with guidance as to the operation and maintenance of their equipment.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Perform appropriate tests procedures upon clean air ventilation systems, cleanrooms, workstations and devices.
- Document results of tests and submit completed documents to administrative office for completion.
- Troubleshoot and repair customer equipment where possible.
- Interact with customer to provide guidance as to the operation and maintenance of their equipment.
- Perform other related duties and services for customer as required.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment and materials used in performance of job.
- Ensure any repairs and maintenance for testing equipment are performed in a timely manner.
- Utilize technical support available at head office when unable to troubleshoot certain problems in the field.
- Assist head office with other related duties as required.
**Education and Experience**
- College level mathematics is a definite asset.
- Preference given to those with technician training in HVAC, electrical or mechanical equipment.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Knowledge of basic HVAC systems, basic electrical wiring and motor repair.
- General mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and effectively use specialized testing instruments and equipment.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems and to troubleshoot new problems while working independently.
- Flexible to work on some evenings and weekends based on customer needs.
- Ability to speak French is an asset.
**Physical Demands**
- Carrying, lifting and putting into place (sometimes overhead) fragile filters ranging in weight from 20 lbs to 80 lbs and size ranging from 24x24x12 inches to 48x72x12 inches.
- Ability to work overhead (above shoulder height).
- Carrying, lifting or otherwise moving equipment and equipment cases ranging in weight from 20 to 250 lbs, in and out of various locations (Note: very heavy equipment to be moved only with assistance of other workers and/or specialized moving/lifting equipment).
- Ability to drive a vehicle for extended hours, both day and night for service calls to customers in rural or remote locations.
**Work Environment**
- Various manufacturing and research facilities.
- Secured facilities requiring security clearances.
- Some work in highly sterilized environments requiring gowning and masking.
- A variety of spaces including occasional confined spaces.

**Salary**: $42,000.00-$46,000.00 per year
