**The Opportunity**:
WSP E&I is currently seeking an Environmental (Hydrometric) Field Technician to join our dynamic mining team based in Oakville, ON.

In this role, you’ll split your time between being in the field carrying out hydrometric monitoring programs, as well as in the office. Out-of-office field programs may occupy 75-85% of the technician’s time.

Fun points:

- You’re someone who’s be comfortable with extended periods of travel, as well as travel by boat, small aircraft, helicopter, and ATVs.
- You also comfortable hiking in remote areas and carrying out physically demanding work in various environmental conditions.

Please note this role will require overtime during the peak field season. These hours are considered “bankable”, allowing this person the ability to earn significant time off during the off-season.

**A day in the life**:

- You will develop Health and Safety Plans and Job Safety Analysis forms;
- You will install continuous stream flow and lake level monitoring stations;
- You will take part in In-situ flow measurements and topographic benchmark surveys;
- You’ll order/book field materials, equipment and travel;
- You’ll co-ordinate with client personnel and other field disciplines;
- You’ll maintain detailed and accurate field notes;
- You’ll compile and analyze field data, including rating curve development; and
- You’ll write field and installation reports.

**What you'll bring to WSP...**:

- Environmental Technician/Technologist College Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in a related field (e.g. environmental sciences, environmental technology)
- 1-3 years of experience conducting stream flow monitoring / installation
