**Overview**
At **Ju-Raku Japanese Cuisine**, the Line Cook plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, consistency, and presentation standards of our upscale Japanese dining experience. Working closely with the kitchen and sushi teams, this position supports daily prep and service operations—executing dishes with precision, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring an efficient workflow during high-volume service. This role requires strong technical cooking skills, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for Japanese cuisine.
**Responsibilities**
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with Ju-Raku’s recipes, plating standards, and portion controls.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation during each service.
- Ensure proper setup and organization of assigned station before, during, and after service.
- Support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily prep tasks, including stock rotation and mise en place.
- Uphold strict food safety and sanitation practices in compliance with Ontario health regulations.
- Communicate effectively with teammates to ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and service staff.
- Assist in receiving, labeling, and storing deliveries accurately.
- Perform end-of-shift duties including cleaning, restocking, and equipment maintenance.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and respectful work environment.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum **1-2 years** of kitchen experience, preferably in a Japanese, Asian, or fine dining restaurant.
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with Japanese ingredients and cooking methods (grilling, tempura, sauces, etc.) are an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Culinary school diploma or relevant certification is an advantage but not required.
