Position Overview

This Internship opportunity will provide hands-on work experience for a current student entering the fourth-year Paralegal Degree Program student.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing files to ensure reasonable prospect of conviction;- Understanding of the resolution process, the resolutions offered and if/when these are offered;- Speak with defendants regarding their charges and offer resolution if applicable;- Address the court and complete resolutions on record;- Assist with disclosure review and sending of disclosures;- Create and send correspondence to defendants with respect to matters dispensed with in court.

Requirements

Student must have completed 3rd year and are going into your 4th year of a Paralegal Degree program and have successfully completed the Provincial Offences course; Ability to learn new technology, understand the role of the Prosecutor; Willing to present in court and communicate with defendants (once trained and with supervision); Customer Service Skills are required.
