**Summary**:
Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids (BB4CK) is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to develop a strategic plan for the next 5 years. This includes revisiting our vision, mission, and theory of change, advising on a strategic framework, and facilitating data gathering. The consultant will collaborate closely with our leadership team, Board of Directors, staff, and community.

**Description**:
**Brief**:
Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids (BB4CK) is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to support the organization in developing a comprehensive strategic plan, including revisiting our vision, mission and theory of change statements, that will guide organizational planning for the next 5 years. This will include advising on a strategic and operating plan framework, facilitating data gathering processes, and consolidating/interpreting learnings for understanding. The consultant will work closely with the organization’s leadership team, Board of Directors, staff and community.

**Background**

For over 30 years, Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids has been dedicated to ensuring every kid in our city has access to nutritious food so they can thrive. From school lunches to summer camps to supporting parents in purchasing the food they need, we are committed to creating low-barrier, dignified access to food.

**Objectives of the RFP**

The primary objectives of this Request for Proposal process are to:
- Understand consultant’s proposed scope of work, schedule, fee structure and implementation timeline- Identify key metrics of success for this project- Explore previous similar work the consultant has undertaken

**Scope of Work**

The selected consultant will be expected to:

- Assess the current strategies, frameworks, outcomes and impact
- Facilitate contributions to a SWOT analysis and Environmental Scan
- Facilitate internal discussions regarding organizational direction
- Plan for community consultation and engagement, including various kinds of input gathering
- Advise on selection of strategic and operating plan framework for the organization’s use
- Review existing documentation and data related to current programs.
- Strategize, and when appropriate facilitate, community interviews (staff, volunteers, beneficiaries, community partners).
- Present findings and recommendations to the BB4CK board and leadership.

**Potential Additional Scope**

Develop a strategic plan that includes:
- Vision and mission refinement- Goals and objectives- Key performance indicators (KPIs)- Implementation timeline

**Proposal Requirements**

Proposals should include the following components:
- Executive Summary- Consultant/Team Qualifications- Approach and Methodology- Timeline- Budget- References

**Proposals will be evaluated based on**:
- Experience in leading related projects with innovative/exploratory approaches/futures thinking- Clarity and feasibility of the proposed approach- Understanding of BB4CK’s mission and challenges- Familiarity with the social and emergency food assistance sectors, including lived experience with food insecurity- Feedback from references

BB4CK reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and is not obligated to award a contract based on this RFP. The selected consultant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Individual and team consultants are welcome; while the outcome we’re seeking is clear, we’re looking for diverse and varied approaches.
