**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Workplace Culture, the Organizational Development (OD) Specialist leads the design, development, and delivery of learning and development programs and initiatives to support and inspire employee engagement at OCAD University (OCAD U). The OD Specialist is responsible for advising and providing guidance on organizational design standards, policies and strategies in keeping with OCAD U’s strategic and academic plans and values, and leads organizational review and redesign in consultation with University stakeholders. The OD Specialist also supports the implementation of formal processes and procedures for performance planning and management to support the success of OCAD U employees.
**Here’s What You’ll be Doing**:
- Learning & Development_
- Under the guidance of the Director, Workplace Culture, devise a learning and development strategy that supports institutional goals and objectives
- In consultation with managers and stakeholders, assess the learning and development needs of the University and departments to recommend and inform the planning and implementation of programs and learning initiatives
- Maintain, update and coordinate a calendar of learning and development programs relevant to institutional objectives and individual departmental needs
- Assist in the development of learning support materials to foster ongoing learning opportunities for both new and existing staff, managers, and faculty
- Evaluate, measure, and report on the effectiveness of training programs; make recommendations for changes and revisions to programs as necessary
- Effectively roll out learning and development programs
- Research best practices, trends and new initiatives in learning and development to inform and improve current programs and initiatives for OCAD U employees
- Liaise with Office of Diversity, Equity, Sustainability & Inclusion (ODESI), Faculty Curriculum & Development Centre, and other learning areas and stakeholders to consult and collaborate on training initiatives
- Manage the University’s professional development and training budgets and make recommendations for effective allocation of funds
- Performance Management_
- In consultation with management, support the creation of employee development and succession plans
- In conjunction with academic leadership, support the tenure and promotion process
- Lead performance improvement plans (PIPs), in combination with People & Culture Advisors and Manager, Faculty & Employee Relations, and support management with employee performance feedback if necessary
- Develop and implement related policies, tools and training
- Organizational Health_
- Ensure consistency and strategy across organizational structures, processes and systems in support of overall organizational effectiveness
- Provide guidance and support for workplace culture and change management initiatives
- Provide consultation, analysis and project management support with the implementation of organizational redesigns and change management including procedures, strategies, communication plans, consultation with appropriate stakeholders and the effective deployment and growth of talent
- In collaboration with the People & Culture Advisor, facilitate organizational review and unit redesign including assessing the work environment, work process, team formation, lines of reporting and structure, developing jobs and job descriptions
- Support the administrative management and staff job evaluation processes including intake, coordination, evaluation and recommendations to the Job Evaluation Committee as applicable; consult with the manager and/or incumbent and People & Culture Advisors as necessary
- Lead the analysis and reporting on salaries, classifications, pay equity maintenance and market rates
- Assist the Director, Workplace Culture in related functions and projects contributing to the successful operation of the People & Culture office
- Post-secondary degree in a related field, and a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) and/or Certified Training & Development Professional (CTDP) designation, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
