Compensation Range

Job Summary

Plans, coordinates and implements a variety of effective and innovative on-campus recruiting and advising services and programs for prospective international students, their parents and counsellors visiting UBC’s Vancouver campus virtually or in-person. Regularly gives presentations and undertakes group and one-on-one advising to this effect.

Provides effective recruiting and advising services to international students and Canadian students schooled outside of Canada, as well as international students schooled within Canadian colleges and high schools, in support of the International Student Initiative’s enterprise-wide mandate to meet the Faculties’ international enrolment targets in undergraduate programs as well as in select other programs that have been identified as strategic initiatives for the University.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Manager, International Recruitment, On-Campus in terms of overall strategy and operations. Works closely and collaboratively with other ISI staff and in particular the recruiting teams on both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses; Student Recruitment & Advising (domestic) staff; Staff in the Recruitment Marketing and Prospective Student Engagement; other units in Enrolment Services, particularly the International Admissions unit and Enrolment Services Advisors; Staff within International Student Development; and Faculties and academic advising units.

Work Performed

1. Provides on-campus recruitment consultation and advising by:
Developing programs to encourage more prospective international students, their parents and counsellors to visit the UBC campuses or explore our campuses virtually. Examples may include but are not limited to customized campus tours, live virtual campus tours, special events, sponsored trips for international student groups and/or counsellors, and recruitment competitions.- Designs programs and content delivery to meet needs of secondary school students or college transfer students and manages the logistics of planning the events.- Advises prospective international students and their families visiting the campus.- Participates in coordinating the design and delivery of tours and special on-campus and virtual programs for counsellors and international coordinators.- Plans, organizes and conducts special events such as Applicant Information Sessions or other types of yield events on campus, targeting newly-admitted international students.- Liaises closely with SRA on joint events where there is likely to be a critical mass of international students participating in the event.- Assists in the hiring, training, supervision, and support of Student Ambassadors, Senior Student Ambassadors, International Recruitment Assistants and other student, clerical or event staff.- Works closely with the Recruitment Marketing and Prospective Student Engagement team and Student Recruitment and Advising (domestic recruitment) to develop an innovative multi-media presentation for use in the campus tour program. May work with Recruitment Marketing and Prospective Student Engagement team to develop web-based virtual tours for prospective students in the US or overseas, and other communication products to promote campus tours and on-campus recruitment activities.- Collects and maintains data on the origin of on-campus event participants, tracking and assessing patterns of participation, designing and delivering other assessment tools to solicit feedback from event participants to determine levels of satisfaction and overall effectiveness of program in meeting recruitment goals; writing reports and making recommendations for changes and improvements to the Manager, International
