Maintenance Helper, Weekend Availability Required

Working under responsibility of the Maintenance Manager, this position’s primary duty is to ensure the hotel property is maintained in an attractive ,clean and safe manner

The Maintenance Helper reports to the Maintenance Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
- minimum grade 12 education
- five years building maintenance
- conversant with all general hand and power tools, as well meters and gauges
- move, lift, push and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, or heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance

A) Objectives: To ensure the proper operation of facilities and plant are maintained.

B) Duties Responsibilities:
1. Performs lot and spot replacement of light bulbs

2. Performs routine preventative maintenance on all air handling units, etc. ie. filter changes, lubrication, belt changes, etc..

3. Maintains hotel grounds in a clean and orderly manner

4. Removes snow/ice surrounding hotel and applies ice melting compound as required

5. Maintains fire extinguishers in proper operating order

6. Performs drywall repair and painting

7. Maintains the building exterior : Painting ,replacement of light bulbs

8. Responds to guest calls when on duty in a courteous, prompt and professional manner

9. Performs and all aspects of equipment repair and preventative maintenance

10. Deals with outside contractors in a courteous and professional manner

11. Continually updates him/herself awareness of recent technological advances that may be implemented, to improve hotel operational efficiency

12. Maintains and monitors the hotel security system ,door lock system and television equipment

13. Follow all Health and Safety standard and regulation

14. Maintains a system of pest control throughout and in the immediate surrounding vicinity of the hotel

15. Ensure that engineering areas are clean and properly maintained

16. Is properly groomed and attired, including proper and complete uniform

17. Ensures all first aid cabinets are adequately stocked

18. Actively contributes to the safety of all guest and the property

19. Is fully prepared for fire alarms, bomb threat procedures and other safety requirements including the providing of emergency medical assistance. Is familiar with the location of and how to control the supply of water, electricity and gas in an emergency situation. Is aware of the location of, and how to use, fire extinguishing equipment

Assists the Maintenance Manager in performing all of his/her duties & responsibilities

Additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 24 per week

**Salary**: $21.00-$25.50 per hour
