**Salary**: $3,241.74 to $4,362.44 bi-weekly ($84,609 - $113,859/year)

Alberta Education supports students, parents, teachers and administrators from Early Childhood Services (ECS) through Grade 12. The ministry is responsible for Alberta’s curriculum, teacher development and certification, funding of school boards and overseeing education policy.

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Ministry of Education is looking for two dynamic leaders to join their team in supporting the Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO).

- Have a sound understanding of the Ministry’s mandate, priorities, business, goals, strategies, relevant policies, legislation, regulations and organizational structure, including a thorough understanding of government and ministry strategic directions and business goals as they relate to the ministry mandate.
- Have specific knowledge of:

- Department/government planning processes and requirements.
- Minister and Deputy Minister correspondence guidelines.
- Have general knowledge of:

- Various department/government acts and regulations. Department's position on a variety of issues.
- Political, societal and executive decision-making environment in which the Division and Ministry operate.
- Fiscal planning and forecasting cycle/processes.
- Business/operational planning processes to maximize outcomes (deliverables) and continually develop and implement innovative processes to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies.

**Qualifications**:
Four-year university degree in a related field (Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, social sciences, business, communication, etc.) supplemented by a minimum of four years of related experiences required.

Equivalency - Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education

Assets:

- Previous experience working in a Deputy Minister’s Office.
- Project management and/or strategic planning skills.
- Understand government’s decision-making process and/or budget and planning cycles.
- Experience with researching, composing, tracking, and editing briefing notes and other correspondence.
- Advanced writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of government legislation and policies.
- Past leadership experience.
