CedarsCanSupport is a charitable, hospital based organization that provides free emotional support, educational, and practical resources to enhance the humanization of care and the quality of life of cancer patients and their families throughout the entire cancer experience.
Under the direction of the Manager, Supportive and Palliative Care Programs and Services, and Cedars CanSupport (CCS) of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC), and in close collaboration with the MUHC Volunteer Office, the incumbent ensures the planning, coordination, and monitoring of the volunteer services within Cedars CanSupport located within the Cedars Cancer Centre. The incumbent is responsible for promoting a welcoming environment and maintaining a high quality volunteer service to support patients, families, caregivers, visitors, and the hospital staff. This is not a hospital position. These services are an initiative of the Cedars Cancer Foundation (CCF) in collaboration with the MUHC Cancer Care Mission (CCM).
**2. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
A. Maintain the organizational structure for volunteering in an active Cancer Centre that is based on the most up-to-date and evidence-informed best practices;
B. Establish a strategic plan to harmonize services with the MUHC Volunteer Office that aligns with the objectives of the Cancer Care Mission and clinical partners form other interdisciplinary services at the MUHC;
C. Monitor human and material resources related to the deployment of volunteer services at the Cedars Cancer Centre (CCC) to ensure that all areas of operations are adequately staffed, properly equipped, and appropriately managed;
D. Ensure excellence within the Cedars CanSupport volunteer team with regards to volunteer engagement, performance, and organizational commitment.
**3. **SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**
A. Implement, revise and update as needed the Cedars CanSupport volunteer services to respond to cancer patient and family needs:
B. Coordinate and lead the hiring, orientation, onboarding, training and retention of volunteers to ensure the sustainability of the CCS volunteer services;
C. Critically evaluate and implement actionable and measurable performance indicators to study the quality of the volunteer services offered:
D. Demonstrate leadership and volunteerism at the MUHC CCC to the community at large:

**5. A. Academic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or allied health field, such as social work, psychology, nursing, counseling, therapeutic recreation, creative arts therapies or relevant field or equivalent.
B. Professional and practical experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a leadership position in a healthcare or community organization
- Experience in cancer care
- Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation;
C. Other knowledge and requirements
- French and English, oral and written.
- Proficiency in computer skills (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, ZOOM, TEAMS);
**6. **WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT**
- Full time; 35 hrs per week
- Occasional availability after hours or on weekends as necessary to assist in CCS special events and to maintain the volunteer schedule.
