Marina Point Village is currently seeking a dynamic and energetic Full-Time Maintenance Assistant to join its Senior Leadership Team. This is a non-unionized position.

**Qualifications**:
- Minimum educational requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a maintenance-related position.
- Ability to read, write and comfortably communicate in English. Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- General knowledge & experience on drywall repairs and basic knowledge of plumbing/electrical repairs.
- Competent in using hand and power tools.
- Willingness and ability to learn.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time and walk short distances throughout the day, maintain good balance while standing on ladders.
- Must be organized, patient, tactful and mature.
- Good time management skills.
- Free from communicable diseases.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification is required
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract.
**a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening and 2 Step TB Test are required prior to start.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support the Manager of Environmental Services;
- Assume responsibility with the maintenance department as a Team Lead in the absence of the MES.
- Maintain safe work practices;
- Be knowledgeable of and practice the facility’s fire and safety programs;
- Complete small repair jobs as directed;
- Complete minor repair and maintenance requests as directed;
- Loading and unloading materials in a safe manner;
- Collect and dispose of garbage/recycling materials;
- Complete general repairs of the building, equipment and furnishings as needed;
- Complete general repairs of the suites/apartments and common areas which include mudding, painting, wallpapering, and surface repairs, as required;
- Complete routine surveillance of grounds, including parking lots;
- Ensure the grounds are free of safety hazards and refuse;
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to Manager;
- Prepare vacated suites/apartments for new move-ins within required timelines as directed by Manager;
- Have a full understanding of and practice Infection Prevention and Control policies;
- Infection Prevention & Control measures: Cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces, specifically commonly touched surfaces (ie. Light switches, door knobs/handles, taps, hand rails, counter tops, equipment, etc.);
- Must use and wear as designed all necessary personal protective equipment to ensure the safety of self and others;
- Maintain safe work practices in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
- Regular attendance is required to be successful in this role;
- Other duties as assigned.
**Physical Demands**:
- Standing for long periods of time - for up to 8hrs/day;
- Frequent walking for short to medium distances - including stairs;
- Maneuvering in tight spaces within Resident units, utility rooms, mechanical rooms, etc;
- Pulling/pushing/reaching/bending/lifting/transferring chemical pails, mechanical parts, etc, up to 50lbs independently and handling increased weight with assistive devices;
- Kneeling for intervals while working with hands;
- Frequent exposure to outdoor working conditions in all types of climates and weather;
- Working at heights - use of ladders up to 12 ft; in accordance with safe use of ladders as per Company policy.
**In addition to the hourly rate, the total compensation package includes Group Benefits, Group RRSP and paid sick time.**

**Salary**: $20.00-$21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
