**Responsibilities**: To work with the clients of the YWCA Central Avenue Shelter, providing guidance, support, and life skills to empower and promote independence. To maintain a clean and secure facility and assist the residents when necessary. **Reports to**:Gateway House Supervisors & Manager **Qualifications**: - Have excellent people skills and work well in crises; - Must be flexible, reliable, and willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities; - ** Must be able to lift heavy items/perform heavy cleaning;**: - Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture with a mindset accepting of reconciliation; - Valid Class 5 Driver's License - **Those without a Class 5 Driver's License need not apply;**: - Reliable transportation; - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; - Must pass Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check; - Ability to work independently and follow policies and procedures; - Ability to work closely with at risk youth providing trauma informed care; - Excellent Time Management Skills; **Remuneration**: $22.62 per hour. **Hours of Work**:Evenings, Weekends, and overnight shifts to be expected - as best suits the needs of the program. **Duties**: - Guide the residents, providing support & advocacy as they transition into adulthood/independence; - Must be a good role model to youth/clients; - Manage challenging behavior, verbal de-escalation; - Maintain building security, perform room/bag checks; - Ensure major housecleaning duties are completed as well as everyday cleaning/chores; - Ensure room checks are completed on a consistent basis, report any need for repairs or replacement of furniture, blinds, etc. to the maintenance team; - Attend staff meetings, training, and workshops as required; - Communicate with the Manager/Supervisors and co-workers as part of a cohesive team; - Provide feedback to the Manager/Supervisors on client issues, major events, and incident reports; - Attend to crises as they arise during no-office hours. Contact the Manager/Supervisor in the event of a major crisis; - Ensure policies are adhered to as per contracts with: MSS< CPS/YO, & CSC; - Prioritize work, attending to the most urgent needs of the clientele first; - Work unsupervised; - Maintain confidentiality; - Must be able to work both evenings & weekends, as well as holidays; - Must be able to work shift work & overnights; - Must report any instances of Child Abuse or neglect including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional maltreatment, neglect, & domestic violence; - Any other duties as requested by management; **About the YWCA**: YWCA Prince Albert is a friendly and rewarding place to work.
