Are you a masterful creative problem solver, passionate about the art and science of conversion-focused copywriting? We are hiring a full-time virtual (work from home) direct response junior copywriter interested in developing their craft further at Rita Barry & Co. This is an employed position with three weeks' vacation, 100% employer paid health benefits through Blue Cross, and a learning allowance to upgrade relevant skills. It's a salaried position for an individual eligible to work in Canada. The expectation is for 40 hours over five days a week. Daily working times are somewhat flexible but the majority of working time is required from 9am - 5pm within Pacific to Eastern time zones. **What You Will Do**: As a Junior Copywriter, you will immerse yourself in copywriting (comprising 85% of the role) and also tackle stretch assignments (15%). Your daily responsibilities will include: - Draft copy based on asset packages and direction from the Strategy team. - Finalize and polish copy for clarity, voice, specificity and believability. - Write copy for ad campaigns for existing funnels and launches. - Develop testing hypotheses and create copy to improve targeted metrics across the copy assets you create. - Keep the team updated on your progress. - Actively participate in skill-building sessions, brainstorming, and workshops for the agency. At Rita Barry & Co., we believe in the science of copywriting, leveraging research, frameworks, and formulas while infusing an artistic touch to engage our audience and drive conversions. **Responsibilities**: - Take end-to-end copy project ownership, crafting impactful content for both experiments and non-experiments. - Fully participate in strategy and team meetings to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment. - Champion a data-first approach to copywriting, drawing insights from voice-of-customer data and data-driven research. - Collaborate closely with other team members to transform client desires into innovative, conversion-focused concepts and copy. - Craft persuasive, on-brand content for diverse brands, audiences, and price points. - Present concepts and copy confidently in a compelling, persuasive manner. - Provide and receive constructive criticism thoughtfully and with an eagerness to learn and grow. We rework copy until it's "right," no matter how many drafts it takes. **Requirements**: - Possess at least 1 year of direct response copywriting experience. - Showcase a portfolio that demonstrates your ability to drive leads, and sales through your copywriting skills. - Demonstrate a talent for rationalizing, judging, and organizing ideas. - Strong attention to detail and picking up on procedures quickly (you don't need anyone to tell you something twice). - Manage deadlines proactively and without a great deal of handholding (putting off work, then thinking you work best under pressure has no place here). - Ability to work efficiently and effectively (we have a high standard of excellence). - Access to strong internet connection and a quiet location, free from distractions, for meetings. - Organized (client accounts have a million moving pieces and everything has to be easy to find and organized according to the company structure, not your personal preferences). - Embrace constructive criticism and continuously challenge yourself to improve by asking how can I improve this result even more? - Show an unwavering passion for the craft of copywriting and growing the businesses of the clients we serve. - Care about the company, our clients, our vision, and our team. - Optional: A degree in English, Marketing, Psychology, Journalism, or Science._ **Benefits** - $45,000 - 60,000 annual salary depending upon experience - 3 weeks paid vacation to start - Learning and development budget (Paid courses & programs to uplevel conversion copywriting skills) - 100% employer paid health benefits through Blue Cross - 3 month trial as a contractor (same salary) before full time offer of employment is made
