**FAMILY CENTRE ARGYLE- COMMUNITY CONNECTOR (part-time)**
**Job Summary**: The Community Connector role is critical to creating a welcoming, trusted place where children and families can access services easily and effectively. This is a position that requires extensive knowledge of all the programs and services available throughout the community, especially those within Argyle community and within other Neighbourhood Child and Family Centres throughout the city.
The Community Connector will act as the information liaison for participants and provide accurate referrals to programs and services. The Community Connector must have strong interpersonal skills and public speaking skills as they represent Family Centre Argyle and its lead agency
- LUSO Community Services at various community activities.
**Reporting**:Reporting to the Family Centre Manager, the Community Connector will be an employee of LUSO Community Services (responsible to operate and manage the Family Centre Argyle) and will represent LUSO in the community with families and partners.
**Position Details**:This is a part-time position, hours will range between 9-15 per week and will vary week to week dependent on the needs of the Family Centre. There may be weeks that hours will exceed 15 hours, should other staff members be off with illness, vacation etc.
The hours are mainly evenings ( generally between 4:30-8:30) and 1 Saturday per month ( generally between 9:00-1:00pm), however availability during daytime is also needed as coverage is needed when other team members are on holidays, off on leave etc.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**General Community Connector role**:
- Responsible for main reception/resource area including greeting and providing seamless connections to appropriate programs and services.
- Work alongside families to identify the programs and services that are of interest and important to their lives.
- Answer all incoming phone calls while providing service information as needed.
- Ensure the smooth operation of transitioning programs and services within the centre.
- Collect, input and maintain statistical data for reporting purposes.
- Support site tours for community members and service providers as needed.
- Support community partners facilitating programs at the Family Centre with set up, clean and other inquires while they are on-site
- Maintain an information board of programs and services offered at the Family Centre.
- Monitor and maintain office equipment that is signed out by partners.
- Support partners in use of all equipment including (technology, kitchen equipment, washer and dryer).
- Actively Participate in Community Connector training and professional development opportunities.
- Actively Participate in Family Centre team meetings and LUSO Community Services’ staff meetings including taking minutes, chairing etc.
- Participate in the Community Connector online forum and professionally represent FC Argyle and LUSO in these various settings
- Be responsible for the health and safety of participants at the Family Centre. This may include Covid-19 safety protocol requirements and cleaning responsibilities
- Ensure own performance follows the policies and procedures of LUSO Community Services including Health and Safety, Child Protection and Risk management
**Key Qualifications**:
- At minimum Post-Secondary education or Diploma or Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field such as Leadership, Social Work, Social Service Work, Family Studies, Education or other relevant area of study;
- **Early Childhood Education Diploma or RECE is an asset**:
- Extensive knowledge of the community, organizations, and resources to support families with single point access lens.
- Demonstrated experience working in a community setting and strong customer service skills
- Experience providing information and referrals to families
- Well
- developed decision making skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking skills
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant software including virtual platforms
- Able to work well with individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and well as within a multidisciplinary team
- Friendly, outgoing, professional and strong work ethic
- Punctual and reliable, strong work ethic and attendance
- Second language an asset
- Clearance through a Vulnerable populations police screening process (at own cost) prior to commencing employment
- Current CPR and First Aid certification prior to commencing employment
- Safe Food Handlers Certification an asset
- Must be able to show proof of vaccination or provide medical or human rights exemption documentation
