Parts Technician

The Parts Technician is responsible for ordering, warehousing, inventory control and the sale of parts. Their duties also include identifying/searching for parts and equipment, shipping and receiving, and providing excellent customer service.

**Responsibilities**- Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies- Telephone sales support- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other areas- Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage- Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using a manual or computerized inventory system- Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies- Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting- Post receipts, stock adjustments, request for credits and PR’s into computer- Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested.- Fill customer orders from stock. Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.- Keep track of backorders and follow up with vendors and customers- Endeavor to increase parts sales and customer satisfaction through suggestive selling, use of coupon discounts and monthly flyer specials- Ensure that product and service quality exceeds expectations. Aids in the merchandising of parts- Must participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt or outside vendors- Assist Parts Manager as needed- Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required
**Qualifications**- 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree- Red Seal parts certification is an asset- Good written and oral communication skills- Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities- Effective problem solving and negotiating skills- Effective conflict resolution skills- Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base.- Solid understanding of the truck industry
