**Salary**: $4,402.49 to $5,590.52 bi-weekly ($114,905 - $145,913)
Bill 49, the Public Safety and Emergency Services Statutes Amendment Act, 2025 received royal assent in May 2025. The Act is designed to enhance public safety by enabling the creation of a new **Independent Agency Police Service (IAPS)**. The amendments ensure the IAPS functions as an independent policing body with strong accountability enhanced civilian oversight, transparency, and accountability.
To assist in these efforts, a temporary two-year implementation team has been established within the Public Security Division to lead the work to implement the IAPS.
**Role Responsibilities**:
- Reporting to the Executive Director, the **Director, IAPS Operational Planning** is responsible for coordinating and developing the IAPS organizational framework, in accordance with the amendments to the Police Act.
The Director provides strategic leadership to design, develop and establish the IAPS as a new provincial corporation, spanning organizational design, corporate strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, position development, recruitment, work locations, accommodations, information technology, records management, and procurement of equipment, vehicles, specialized equipment, etc.
In this role you will also provide support and advice to the Executive Director of the implementation team, the IAPS Chief, and are accountable for ensuring that implementation of the IAPS is consistent with the intent of the Police Act and associated regulations. You will plan and direct unit operations, human resources and financial resources to deliver outcomes and develop organizational capacity, while guiding and mentoring team members as they contribute to achieving the unit mandate.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Ensure leadership and strategic support in the assessment, development, coordination and delivery of organizational structure for the IAPS.
- Lead and oversee the design, development, and establishment of a new provincial corporation.
- Establish, schedule and coordinate strategic and corporate planning framework for the IAPS.
- Lead the acquisition of operational and business support(s) and coordinate procurement of necessary goods and services to launch the IAPS.
- Direct briefings and advice to inform executive decision-making and development of the IAPS.
- Ensure unit operations are planned, directed and evaluated to deliver the implementation teams mandate and in support of the ministry’s strategic and business plans and government priorities of the IAPS.
