Your Opportunity:
The Indigenous Wellness Core (IWC) works in collaboration and partnership across Alberta Health Services and with external partners towards health equity for Indigenous peoples and communities. The IWC is the mechanism through which AHS plans to achieve on-going provincial improvement in Indigenous health, patient outcomes and experience, health improvement and sustainability of Alberta’s health system. The Executive Administrative Coordinator (EAC) is responsible for providing high level and comprehensive leadership and coordination for the operation of the offices of the Indigenous Wellness Core Senior Provincial Director (SPD) and Senior Medical Director (SMD) as part of the IWC’s senior leadership team. The EAC serves as a key resource on operational matters, liaising between the AHS Executive Leadership team, AHS Provincial Program Leadership teams, Zone Clinical Operations Leadership teams, and other departments and divisions of Alberta Health Services. The EAC is accountable to support and coordinate all action requests on behalf of the IWC SPD and is the primary point of contact between the IWC and internal and external stakeholders and partners. The EAC will use independent judgement in making decisions, and will assist with planning, coordination and management of administrative projects. The EAC is responsible for coordination and management of the complex calendar schedules of the SPD and SMD while developing cooperative working relationships with all internal and external partners. The EAC is responsible for leading office management and administrative issues. This position is a leadership position to all other executive assistant positions within the portfolio, providing guidance to the IWC's administrative team.

Description:
The Executive Administrative Coordinator (EAC), Indigenous Wellness Core (IWC), acts as primary contact for the offices of the SPD and SMD, responding to urgent and sensitive matters and recommending responses. The EAC coordinates IWC responses to requests and issues, managing action requests. The EAC will review correspondence from AHS Executive, internal and external organizations (incl. the federal government department of Indigenous Services Canada (First Nations and Inuit Health), and the Gov. of Alberta Ministries of Health, Indigenous Relations, and Mental Health and Addiction, and First Nation, Métis, and other Indigenous communities/organizations), and assigns follow up as required. The EAC anticipates and solves or leads others to solve, unique and significantly complex issues. The EAC recommends, or takes appropriate actions in support of the IWC leadership team. The EAC works in collaboration with IWC Leadership to build, manage and sustain stakeholder relationships, supporting with knowledge management, administrative expertise, and strategic communication. The EAC acts as primary contact for the IWC, managing communication initiatives in collaboration with AHS Communications, including developing external websites, newsletters and publications. Required to make independent decisions on day-to-day issues, the EAC works independently in a complex environment, solving problems with little direction. The EAC must be able to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks, changing priorities and tight deadlines. The EAC coaches and provides direction, and problem-solving strategies to other administrative staff within the portfolio, coordinating goals and projects for the IWC Administrative Team.

**Required Qualifications**:
Minimum of a post-secondary diploma / degree in office or business administration is required. Minimum 5 years of experience working in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Knowledge and sensitivity around the culture and health issues of Indigenous people as well as successful experience working in multi-cultural environments is required. Ability to work independently with guidance in only the most complex situations. Self-directed with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, with an ability to handle multiple tasks. Excellent interpersonal and team skills. Strong written and oral skills for the use in the development of oral presentations, summaries and reports. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making a
