**Work schedule**:Part-time, 22.5 hours/week based on operational needs, 12-month contract

**Work Location**:Niagara Falls Community Health Centre and Community locations

**Salary Range**:18.95$-22.88$ an hour

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Dental Receptionist provides support to the dental program by providing administration and coordination (including scheduling of clients), as well as supports the overall functioning of the program to ensure client-driven, high quality service.

**Accountabilities and Responsibilities**

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Completes intake and registration and enrollment of new clients by setting up new client records, collecting information for initial screenings, explaining program eligibility criteria with clients and assists clients in completing documentation.
- Optimize scheduling of dental operatory treatment room to maximize utilization.
- Organizes and maintains dental records and filing systems that support program efficiency, reporting requirements in accordance with PIPEDA, PHIPA and NFCHC policies.
- Maintains client relations through ongoing dialogue before, during and after treatment.
- Identifies and responds to unsatisfied clients with the appropriate recovery action.
- Prepares correspondence, electronic transmission of documents and administers mail distribution and generates client statistics, daily reports, socio-demographic data, and supports leadership in response to requests for information, including from funder(s).
- Receive and prepare clients for dental appointments, including reviewing charts and anticipating clinical needs prior to visit.
- Adhere to infection control standards (PIDAC routine precautions) at all times including when preparing operatories and equipment at the start of the day, end of day, and between clients while maintaining an organized work environment.
- Acts as part of an interdisciplinary team which assists with the development,
- Participate in quality improvement activities as identified by the NFCHC.
- Develop and maintain strong ties to other professionals and community members.
- Work in a manner that demonstrates commitment to NFCHC’s mission, vision, and values.
- Contributes to the CHC’s strategic goals and objectives and values the equality and diversity of the client community and NFCHC staff.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as identified in the performance management process.
- Adhere to the expectations of NFCHC policies and procedures and operating procedures.
- Work in a safe manner as per relevant health and safety legislation and NFCHC policies.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.

**Education and Employment Requirements**

**Education**:

- Successful completion of a certificate in medical or dental reception

Experience
- Minimum or the equivalent of three full-time years’ experience as an office receptionist
- Experience working in a team environment and working with priority populations is considered an asset.
- Dental experience working with an electronic health record and practice management system is an asset.
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office products.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple demands with competing deadlines.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with interdisciplinary team and community partners.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude, and well organized to plan and organize assigned duties.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing program needs.
- Proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Office and dental digital software.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of dental, laboratory and charting procedures, health and safety hazards and preventive practices.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the dental issues of a culturally diverse community to provide compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental and culturally competent care to the disenfranchised and primary populations.
- Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
- Aligns with NFCHC’s values, vision, and mission.

Physical Demands
- Requires fine motor movements and gripping, handling and/or occasionally lifting 10-20 pounds.
