Sleepers Bed Gallery—a trusted, family-owned mattress store serving our community for nearly three decades—is looking for a Retail Store Manager to lead our team and help carry on our legacy of exceptional customer care and comfort. We’re a cozy 2,500 sq ft showroom with a big heart, and we’re looking for someone to be the owner’s right-hand person—someone dependable, hands-on, and ready to "run the show" when needed. From managing day-to-day operations to building relationships with suppliers, this is a key leadership role in our tight-knit team. **Position Overview** As the Retail Store Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day store operations and team coordination, ensuring our customers continue to experience the warm, knowledgeable service we’re known for. This role blends leadership, customer experience, operations, and backend organization—and is ideal for someone who thrives in an independent, community-focused retail environment. **Key Responsibilities** **Store & Staff Management** - Lead the sales floor and staff with positivity, professionalism, and a customer-first attitude - Handle staff scheduling, time-off coordination, and daily task delegation - Support training and onboarding of new team members - Foster a warm, supportive, and accountable team culture **Sales & Customer Experience** - Deliver an exceptional customer experience from first hello to final delivery - Assist with mattress fittings and guide customers through their sleep journey - Manage service issues, customer inquiries, and warranty concerns with care and efficiency - Work with the owner to meet or exceed monthly sales goals and KPIs **Operations & Administration** - Oversee daily store operations including opening/closing procedures, inventory checks, and cleanliness - Ensure accurate order entry, invoicing, and paperwork handling - Monitor and manage in-store merchandising and signage to ensure a welcoming showroom - Track and report key metrics and support business improvements **Vendor & Supplier Relations** - Communicate with suppliers for ordering, lead times, and product issues - Ensure timely and accurate purchase orders, backorder follow-ups, and receiving - Help evaluate product lines, promotions, and supplier performance **Owner Support** - Act as the go-to person in the owner's absence, ensuring business continuity - Share insights and recommendations to help grow the business - Provide feedback from customers and team to help guide decision-making **Qualifications & Traits** - Experience in retail management, ideally in furniture, mattress, or home goods - Confident leader who can motivate and guide a small team - Excellent communication and customer service skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Comfortable with POS systems, basic spreadsheets, and supplier communications - Self-starter who takes initiative and can make smart decisions when needed - Passionate about creating a warm, helpful customer experience **Schedule & Compensation** - Full-time, including 2-3 Saturdays per month - Competitive hourly wage + performance incentives - Staff discounts + potential for growth within the business **Why Join Sleepers?** At Sleepers Bed Gallery, you’re not just a number—you’re part of a legacy.
