Saturday: 3pm - 11pm & Sleepover shift $ 120

**Position Summary**:
The Program Worker, Program Worker who gives direct support to individuals with complex needs. Adults with complex service needs are individuals who pose a significant risk, or are destructive to themselves, others or property. The complexity of the individual’s needs requires more specialized education, training and experience.
This role may have some responsibilities for coordinating less experienced workers, is involved in risk assessment, person-centered planning, and carrying out plans, including behavior support and tracking the impact of plan implementation based on outcomes.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

The main activities of the role are as follows:

- To support and document individualized, person-centered plans to guide services related to individual development, community participation, behavior management and/or personal care.
- To help carry out support plans in more complex situations.
- To help individuals set meaningful personal goals and the steps to reach them.
- To be aware of individual’s physical, social and recreational environments, acting to minimize risks and maximize engagement.
- To be aware of the and follow policies and behavior support plans and medical protocols and standing orders for medications.
- To help individuals make and maintain respectful relationships with others in the community. This includes participation in employment, volunteer, recreational and other social settings.
- To understand community opportunities and issues to help the individuals access and participate in the community.
- To assist individuals in caring for and maintaining a home living environment.
- To support community members to welcome and include individuals.
- To support relationships with the individual and their family, to support their goals and wishes as much as possible.
- To create clear, objective and organized records that are useful in determining the success of supports and interventions or inform the decision-making process.
- To carry out duties and protocols as trained and within WDACS systems and programs.
- To know where to access policy and procedure information as it relates to personnel, individuals and health and safety.
- To have all training and conditions of employment documentation current as per

WDACS requirements, including required training for those working with complex needs’ individuals.
- To work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- To assist in training and orientation of new inexperienced staff members.
- Other duties as may be required.

**Qualifications**

The **Program Worker at Residential Houses **role is critical to the success of the individuals living at the Residence. It requires a positive attitude, an aptitude and compassion for service and support, relevant knowledge and skills, and experience working with adults with complex needs.

The qualifications include the following:

- A belief that individuals with disabilities have the right and to pursue their life choices and actively participate in the community.
- An understanding of the options available to individuals with disabilities and mental health issues, plus demonstrated cultural and ethnic sensitivity.
- A Diploma in a relevant discipline, with additional specialized training related to mental health, preferred.
- At least a year of experience in a relevant discipline.
- Well-developed observation and interpretive skills to support judgments about what actions will resolve issues, including the ability to identify observable changes in behavior and attitude, knowing what actions are appropriate to de-escalate behavior.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle, carrying $2,000,000 liability insurance.
- A good driving record and a comfort level with transporting individuals in country or city areas.
- Basic computer skills, in accordance with the specific role and WDACS requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
- Effective communication skills, including non-verbal and alternative communication skills.
- Effective time and priority-setting skills.
- Relevant knowledge to support the development of basic living and other relevant personal and social skills.
- Flexibility and availability to work various shifts and in more physically and emotionally challenging situations.
