**Salary**: $4,274.26 to $5,427.68 bi-weekly ($111,558 - $141,662/year)

The Ministry of Health is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness; coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services; planning capital infrastructure; supporting innovative information management and technologies; regulating health care; and funding the health system.

The Department of Health establishes the Government of Alberta’s strategic direction for health, including advising government on health policy, legislation and standards, and public health concerns; monitoring and reporting health system performance; setting policies and priorities for the electronic/digital health environment; and providing oversight and ensuring accountability across the health system.

**Role Responsibilities**:
**1. Strategic Leadership**:

- Lead the Home and Community Care Units to implement and maintain strategic frameworks ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients.
- Communicate the vision and ethical standards aligned with Alberta Public Service values.
- Oversee the development of compliance management programs to protect vulnerable Albertans.
- Provide guidance to health compliance officers using evidence-based methodologies.
- Direct staff on compliance monitoring, risk management, investigations, and policy development.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and ensure robust public and stakeholder engagement.

**2. Team Development**:

- Build a high-performance, adaptable team by ensuring access to resources and meeting accountability standards.
- Mentor and inspire staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and respect across the unit.

**3. Support to Senior Leadership**:

- Provide expert advice and strategies for client safety, healthcare quality, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and advise on system improvements.
- Represent the Ministry on various cross-divisional and cross-jurisdictional committees.
- Influence Ministry policies using compliance findings.

**4. Continuous Improvement**:

- Lead the improvement of compliance management systems, regulations, and programs.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and ensure best practices are implemented.

**5. Relationship Building**:

- Collaborate with other ministries, agencies, and stakeholders to enforce legislation and drive system changes.
- Manage complex relationships and promote continuous learning within the unit.

**6. Regulatory Leadership**:

- Serve as Director for matters under the Continuing Care Act (CC Act), making final decisions on licensing, compliance, and enforcement actions.
- Lead the administration of the CC Act, ensuring compliance, managing court cases, and overseeing appeals.
- Manage investigations, ensure fairness, and recommend actions to appropriate bodies.
- Review and approve processes related to the CC Act to ensure legislative alignment.
