**Position Overview**

Provide recreation, leisure, and social opportunities through planned programs and activities, provided to help enhance each Elder’s quality of life, reflecting their past and current interests.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Activity Aide:

- Assist department staff in the development, coordination, and implementation of Elder programs/activities, both in the Home and in the community. A mix of individual, small group and large group options will be available.
- Encourage Elder choice and independence in recreation and other activities, as part of a person-directed care philosophy.
- Liaise and work in cooperation with nursing, dietary and environmental services.
- Program planning and implementation, dietary requisitions, room bookings, outing forms, schedule volunteers, purchase supplies, assist Elders to and from programs/activities, set-up, and clean-up of program/activity spaces.

General:

- Incumbents must keep up to date on all relevant legislation, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring these are implemented as prescribed.
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

**Qualifications**

Minimum Formal Education
- Completed a minimum of one year of college or university in Recreation/Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field.
