Sponsored Markets is a business segment under the Client Solutions umbrella. Sponsored Markets assists plan sponsors in the distribution of unique product offerings to members of professional associations and affinity groups, most notably medical associations and post-secondary students. This segment also supports other financial institutions, including major Canadian banks, in providing their customers insurance coverage on loans and mortgages.
Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Client Relationship Manager (CRM) is responsible for the overall client experience, sales and profitability for association and affinity clients. The Manager will interact with plan sponsors, consultants, and other partners to promote our products, tools and services. The Manager will also interact with other Sun Life business units, and would be responsible for developing and maintaining key relationships across these business units. They are also responsible for plan changes (plan amendments), renewal negotiations, and facilitating education requests. As well, the Manager is accountable for revenue generation through promotion of new products and services, and new client business. Working with the Director, the Manager is expected to participate in formal and informal presentations promoting our capabilities and services to both new and existing clients as well as generally within the consulting and advisor community. The Manager will be accountable for a specific block of clients from the Association & Affinity business, as well as helping develop and drive segment strategy and execution.
**Main Accountabilities**:
- Build strong client relationships through effective and proactive service along with efficient and accurate handling of reactive requests measured through client retention and client satisfaction results
- Manage profitability (renewal negotiations, expense management, revenue generation)
- Build sponsor understanding of SLF tools and services to ensure clients are realizing potential benefits and their SLF relationship
- Manage escalated requests effectively and efficiently
- Create and deliver business plans for key clients
- Contribute to sales growth through effective finalist presentations and promotion of new products/services
- Manage client needs and expectations related to ongoing projects
- Educate clients on administrative and legislative processes and requirements such as federal and provincial legislative changes and evolving technological enhancements
- Have project management responsibilities, including creating and maintaining work plans for projects and large implementations
- Work effectively with internal partners with respect to pricing, renewals, plan changes, administration and marketing
**Competencies**:
- Knowledge of group insurance industry, association and affinity experience is a bonus
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to motivate others through group presentations or individual interactions
- Proficient in working with established processes and guidelines
- Ability to use judgement to create and develop solutions for clients considering business objectives and strategic direction
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to quickly and effectively resolve escalations as they arise
- Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to manage work with limited direction
- Proven record of building strong internal and external relationships
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to follow through
- Responsive with a focus on customer service
- Ability to make sound decisions balancing business and customer needs
- Knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel
**Notes/Unique Requirements**:
- Bilingualism (French, English) required
- immediate manager is a unilingual Anglophone outside Quebec
- Must hold a valid Quebec Group Insurance Plans Advisor license
- 3+ years of experience in a related field
- Some travel expected
