**Our Life Skills Outreach Program in Red Deer is seeking a**:
**Casual Intervention and Support Specialist**

McMan’s **Life Skills Coaching** provides hands-on training and education. This coaching is aligned with the specific needs of individuals who struggle with addiction and/or mental health issues. Intervention and Support Specialists focus on individuals who struggle with addiction and/or mental health issues along with the criteria for eligibility for Disability Services through the Government of Alberta.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Working with high risk clients with severe addiction and/or mental health issues
- Work within a Harm Reduction framework
- Develop trusting relationships with clients
- Assist with obtaining and maintaining housing
- Assist with daily tasks such as: o Money Management o Daily Medications o Grocery Shopping o Client Transportation
- Encourage daily hygiene
- Complete daily notes and monthly reports
- Attend team meetings weekly/monthly depending on the need
- Work with treatment or housing team, to provide wraparound support

**Minimum Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Diploma in the Human Services Field and/or minimum 2 years human services experience (consideration will be given to those with partially completed education)
- PDD experience, experience in working with substance abuse, and AISH are an asset
- Committed to developing positive and therapeutic relationships with clients
- Ability to provide positive and non-judgmental support
- Ability to work as a member of a professional team
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills
- Be flexible and have strong interpersonal skills.
- Standard First Aid - Level C CPR, Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
- Intervention Record & Criminal Record Checks including the vulnerable sector
- Class 5 Divers License, Clean Drivers Abstract and reliable vehicle for client transportation required
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset

**Hours of work**:Up to 40 hours week. Flexible schedule required with availability to work evenings and weekends.
