Early Childhood Educator

The Comox Military Family Resource Centre is looking for an Early Childhood Educator to join our _Specialized Childcare Pilot Project Team_.

In this role, the Early Childhood Educator works under the direction of the _Specialized Childcare Team Lead_ to provide quality childcare to military families from ages 0-12. This position will be responsible for working in multi-faceted licensed childcare programs, which may include evening and weekend hours, providing high-quality care while ensuring compliance with licensing and safety standards are adhered to.

**Duties include**:

- Communicating with parents and guardians and relays information back to the team
- Ensuring that the play environment is safe and child appropriate
- Maintaining ratios, and always being aware of the number of children in attendance
- Ensuring that the children are signed in and out
- Housekeeping, including kitchen duties and laundry
- Diapering and toilet training
- Documenting incidents, and reporting to the Team Lead
- Following opening and/or closing routines
- Understanding and adhering to all policies and procedures
- Ensuring age appropriate and engaging play for all children in attendance
- Working with children with various developmental needs, including but not limited to developmental delays
- Room set up, clean up, and occasional support modifying play spaces

**REQUIREMENTS**
- BC Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE), BC Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate, or Responsible Adult/Good Beginnings course with a minimum 20 hours of training in child development
- Emergency First Aid Certificate for Childcare or Community Service Workers
- Food Safe
- Bilingual (French and English) would be an asset

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
- $20 to $25 per hour based on certification and experience
- Wage Enhancement for BC ECE’s ($6 per hour)
- Full time, evenings and weekends may be required.
- 12 sick days per year
- 13 paid statutory holidays
- 6% vacation pay (15 paid days per year)

This project is expected to run for 3+ years

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
