Knowledge Translation Assistant

**Summary of Duties**: This position within the Office of Research Services, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ORSIE) and reporting to the Director, Applied Research, is responsible for facilitating the sharing of the expanding body of knowledge related to ORSIE’s research centres. Key duties include the creation of a Communication strategy to translate knowledge, communication products and tools, and the development of processes and tools for knowledge sharing, coordinating ORSIE’s social media channels, and producing an internal monthly e-bulletin. **Key duties include the following**: - Identify ORSIE wide and research centre specific knowledge translation needs and priorities while working collaboratively with managers and researchers. - Plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to meet those needs. - Support public engagement and knowledge translation events by providing guidance, input, and expertise. - Evaluate knowledge translation activities on an ongoing basis, and revising and refining efforts to ensure maximum effectiveness and impact. - Develop written reports such as stakeholder feedback reports, protocol briefs, research briefs, abstracts summaries, and research highlights to enhance knowledge translation. - Support ORSIE outreach activities by creating presentation slide decks showcasing ORSIE team expertise and resources available for prospective partners, college community, external conferences, etc. - Analyze technical documents, research activities and data into appropriate communications products for advocacy and external information sharing across diverse types of stakeholders. - Write content and/or edit digital communications, including webpages with interactive media. - Advise on social media trends, platforms and tools. Create engaging social media content to increase post performance and increase recognition of the Durham College and ORSIE brand. - Contribute to the organization of ORSIE special events that celebrate successes and opportunities relating to engagement with the research centres, including booking platforms, venues and/or equipment, printing materials, and providing photography and videography support. - Collaborating with the Communications and Marketing Department to leverage resources and maximize impact. **Qualifications**: - Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, time management and prioritization skills and the ability to coordinate project deadlines and scheduling of resources; - Demonstrate strong business acumen and excellent written and verbal communication skills; - Have effective communication skills to collaborate with external partners; - Hold the ability to be proactive in taking initiative, and anticipating, identifying and resolving issues. - Possess the ability to work independently and as a team member, and maintain appropriate service standards required to work with diverse stakeholders including post-secondary, community, government, municipal and industry representatives. - Possess a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and access to a vehicle. **Required Skills**: Hourly rate:$24.24 Required Experience
