Inspector, Construction

Eastward Energy is seeking a well-rounded individual to join our team as a **Inspector, Construction**. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Construction, the Inspector, Construction will assist with oversight of the installation of natural gas infrastructure included in the annual Capital Plan under the direction and guidance of Supervisors, Projects. As a member of the Construction Team, the Inspector, Construction will strive to meet the goals of Eastward Energy being a customer-focused natural gas distributor, providing safe and reliable energy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inspection services to ensure compliance with established performance standards and regulatory requirements during pipeline construction, guaranteeing the delivery of top-quality construction services to support the capital plan while prioritizing the safety of staff, contractors, and the public.
- Verification of the measurement of quantities and progress reporting to meet schedule requirements on installation of capital plan.
- Promote and ensure the use of safe work practices, ensuring all staff and external contractors comply with Eastward Energy’s health and safety policies and procedures during installation of mains and services.
- Upholding stringent quality assurance practices and safeguarding the integrity of the construction process by identifying and reporting contributing factors, underlying issues, or constraints that threaten the schedule, budget, or successful completion of construction projects.
- Provide corporate as-built record information on annual pipe installations of mains and services.
We are looking for people who:
- Ideally have three to five years of previous experience in civil construction, pipe installation, project oversight, or quality assurance.
- Are skilled in monitoring project progression and troubleshooting issues to ensure achievement of project goals.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing demands and competing priorities to meeting challenging deadlines and deliver exceptional results.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and look to build and nurture positive relationships with our contractors and customers.
The position is based in Dartmouth but may require occasional work throughout the entire Eastward Energy franchise area. A valid Class 5 Drivers license is required with a clean driver’s abstract. A welding or polyethylene (PE) fusion certification would be considered an asset.
