Building Maintenance Caretaker

**About the Role**:
This position is primarily for a building maintenance caretaker to also provide swimming pool maintenance. The position is located in a 17-acre 410-unit condominium complex in Richmond, BC. This position reports to the facilities manager.

**Work Schedule**:
Up to 40 hours per week comprised of up to five 8-hour shifts.
Flexible shifts, on-call

**Salary**:
Based on qualification/experience

**Summary of Responsibilities**:
This position is primarily a building & pool maintenance person including security, parking enforcement, snow removal and other duties as required.
- You will work around the complex primarily in a building & pool maintenance capacity
- You will also perform security/safety inspections between maintenance jobs
- Check boiler mechanical rooms and elevator rooms. Attend to emergencies such as leaks and respond to residents’ heating and minor plumbing issues.
- Daily monitoring/testing of pool chemistry and perform chemical treatments/balancing as needed/required.
- Daily vacuuming of the pools/hot tub. Cleaning of swimming pool decks.
- Daily check on garbage areas, clearing blocked garbage chutes, and report incidents.
- Assisting the Facility Manager with maintenance duties when needed.
- Painting and touch up work. Power washing fences and other areas as needed
- Walk the building hallways and grounds to identify, record and repair any deficiencies or problems.
- Check parking areas to ensure compliance and check that bicycle rooms are secure.
- Assist with snow removal, snow blower, shoveling, and salting

**Prerequisites**:

- Physically fit, able to perform heavy lifting.
- Ability & willingness to accept and follow direction/instructions.
- Knowledge of and experience with security and emergency procedures
- Knowledge of and experience with construction tools and materials

**Additional assets**:

- Construction and/or handyman experience
- Experience with using and maintaining logbooks.
- Knowledge of WorkSafe BC requirements and safety procedures,
- Pool Chemistry training a benefit, but training & certification will be provided by employer.
- Plumbing, mechanical, boiler experience an asset.

**To Apply**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual, Seasonal

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 - 40 per week

- Richmond, BC V7C 1J8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- building maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
