**Highlights of this opportunity**:

- Provide guidance, development, and supervision to producers on development projects in English.
- Provide guidance, development, and supervision to producers on the production of all scripted series in English.
- Liaise with producers, creative teams, and partner broadcasters on development and scripted production projects.
- Commission original programming based on Programming Department priorities, the APTN strategic plan and in accordance with the CRTC broadcast license;
- Manage APTN’s development process, and shepherd commissioned development projects through delivery.
- Manage the production and delivery of independently produced scripted programs;
- Contribute to the review, evaluation and recommendation of all project proposals;
- Make content and financial decisions, negotiate principle terms;
- Represent APTN at Production Industry Festivals, seminars and other opportunities for television industry outreach including funding agencies and viewers;
- Assert Programming Department interests by receiving pitches, visiting production sets and production facilities;
- Approve all creative materials associated with development and scripted production;
- Participate in speaking engagements, source and scout Indigenous talent;
- Ensure compliance with funding bodies’ submission deadlines;
- Assist with the preparation of project plans and budgets and ensures that expenditures remain within budget limits;
- ** Travel will be required, as assigned**.

**Your accomplishments and experience include**:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and 5 years related experience (production, communication or business); or equivalent combination of education, experience, and traditional knowledge;
- Broadcasting knowledge;
- Experience in content development;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience working with an Indigenous organization as well as knowledge of Indigenous cultural perspectives is an asset.
