Lab Technician

**Company Profile** Da-Lee Environmental Services provides treatment, disposal, transportation, and handling of a wide range of hazardous and non-hazardous liquid waste. As a subsidiary of De-Lee Group, De-Lee Environmental Services provides a reliable working environment, focusing on providing employees with a safe and productive work environment. **Position Profile**: Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the Lab Technician conducts testing on all incoming waste materials as part of the compliance and disposal process as well as process and effluent sample testing for industrial water treatment process (WWTP). The primary responsibilities will be conducting tests, profiling incoming and outgoing waste samples and WWTP discharge, inputting and analysing data using File Maker, and creating batch recipes and solutions as required. This role will also require regular quality control testing of product samples, equipment maintenance, general lab housekeeping duties, report creation and dissemination, as well as inventory management for lab supplies. On occasion, overtime may be required. **Qualifications and Requirements**: - Post Secondary education, preferably in a Chemical or Environmental Technician program OR Equivalent work experience - Experience with TDGA and WHMIS - Experience using lab equipment such as GC, pH meter, balances, and centrifuges - Proficient computer skills with MS Office Suite and database software - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - the ability to identify, interpret, analyse, and resolve problems as they arise - Strong data analysis/interpretation skills - Strong customer service, both internal and external, being able to work with a diverse team - Must be highly organized, methodical and process oriented with a high attention to detail - Ability to follow all SOPs, especially health and safety SOPs - Must be able to lift up to 20lbs unassisted - Ability to climb stairs on a regular basis (one storey) **Working Conditions**: - Exposure to hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials - Use of PPE (gloves, face shield, safety shoes etc.) - Fume hood work - Some outdoor yard work (< 10%) which is dusty, noisy, and odourous depending on the season - Exposure to heat and steam - Work occurs in a casual laboratory within a transfer station/processing environment **Why Work for Us?** - Regular work week (Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:30 pm, including unpaid 30-minute lunch) - Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, LTD) after probationary period **Salary**: $19.00-$25.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Dental care - Disability insurance - Extended health care - Life insurance - On-site parking Schedule: - Monday to Friday - Overtime Supplemental pay types: - Overtime pay Work Location: One location
