**Manager, Athletic Operations - Fitness**
**Reports To**: Senior Manager, Athletics and Recreation

**Nature and Scope**
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Athletics and Recreation, the Manager, Athletic Operations
- Fitness, manages the administration and supervision of all day-to-day fitness operations.
Providing leadership and oversight across all athletics operations with the main focus on the
Fitness Program within the Athletics Department. This position will also provide support for the Recreation and Varsity programs and events within the athletics facilities, including off
- campus activities. The Manager, Athletic Operations - Fitness, is responsible for the scheduling and supervising of employees, facility scheduling, including two fitness studios and a Rock
Climbing Wall, and day-to-day maintenance and event management. They will demonstrate leadership by living the Athletics mission and college values.
**Job Duties**
- Develops and implements the department's annual goals and objectives supported by the annual marketing plan.
- Ensures facility scheduling and staffing, which correspond to peak patterns of customer use.
- Manages the ongoing employee recruitment, selection, training and development, evaluation, coaching and discipline of employees.
- Organizes and schedules a comprehensive and diverse group fitness and fitness program that encourages a healthy lifestyle. (Ex. Well beats, Cardio hip hop, martial arts, yoga)
- Researches best practices reflective of current business and industry trends to improve operations and enhance fitness programming.
- Improves and develops new product offerings and services in response to customer needs, industry trends and customer expectations.
- Establishes a leadership presence to show support for customers and employees.
- Manages member concerns and questions to ensure we are always trying to meet our member's needs.
- Responsible for creating an environment whereby staff are respected, motivated and valued, ensuring services are in place and enabling effective team building.
- Organizes and manages all administration requirements and software at the front desk to improve service and vendor compliance. (Contracts, POS, Policies and Procedures,
Access Control, Membership tracking etc.)
- Circulates frequently and routinely throughout facilities to direct and support employees to ensure cleanliness and the health and safety of all employees and clients.
- Provides guidance and leadership to staff to execute workshops, seminars, special fitness events in a well-planned and professional manner.
- Implements a comprehensive predictive maintenance program for fitness facilities, equipment purchases, maintenance schedules and supplies in conjunction with
Manager Athletic Operations - Facilities.
- First contact for fitness facilities inspections and follows up with actions for repairs, maintenance, Capital Equipment purchases and risk management.
- Completes daily sales deposits, prepares monthly financial reports and monitors cash handling controls and procedures.
- Prepares recommendations to improve departmental performance to the Senior
Manager, Athletics and Recreation.
- Processes payroll for employees.
- Inventory management of supplies and merchandise.
- Monitors and analyzes costs related to staffing, supplies, overhead and utilities.
- Responsible for remaining knowledgeable in the use of information technology.

- **Desired Skills and Qualifications**:
Recreation/Facilities Management or another related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the health and fitness industry.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a management role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and provide direction, motivation and professionalism under stringent deadline requirements.
- Ability to work with various people to gather needed information to solve problems, evaluate staff members, and delegate and act decisively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse clientele and workforce.
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and risk management skills.
