**Unit/Project Description**:
Reporting to the Director of the Student Success Centre, the Immigration and Mobility Consultant will work collaboratively with other key stakeholders to provide the necessary support. The successful incumbent will have proven expertise in the complexities of immigration, skilled at navigating the government system and passionate in supporting students travelling abroad in regards to settlement and other various issues.

**Job Summary**:
**Purpose and Key Functions**:

- Assist in the review and preparation of student and family immigration documents prior to submission.
- Develop strategies to identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty, staff and the greater community.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver immigration-related workshops, information sessions, and other outreach events within the University and greater community.
- Collaborate with internal partners to facilitate the employment of international students within the greater community and international placements.
- Educate and provide support to employers on requirements for employment of international students.
- Develop communication, and strategic plans and objectives to promote the hiring of international students.
- Develop and prepare a variety of information resources including on-line took kits for prospective and current employers to facilitate the hiring of international students.
- Conduct needs analysis and environmental scans to determine gaps to address in programming.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to create promotional materials on the benefits of cultural diversity in the workforce and globalization of their business.
- Engage in the policy and advocacy work to facilitate streamlined immigration processes for students and employers.
- Facilitate meetings with employer partners and other stakeholders in the community.
- Monitor trends, barriers and opportunities to inform decision-making on the structure of co-ops, internships and placements for employment and immigration purposes.
- Collaborate with professional staff to provide integrated, student-centered services focused on student success and retention.
- Provide advice and support to international students regarding settling issues and resources available within the greater community.
- Provide advice and support to students travelling abroad regarding settlement issues, cultural differences, political and economic environments, and safety provisions.
- Stay current on emerging immigration legislation, interpretations and best practices within the field of immigration.

**Supervision**:

- Provides functional guidance to others on an ongoing basis.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
- Requires 3 years relevant experience.
- Licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) with membership in good standing with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC)

**Assets**:

- Experience in HR Recruitment and/or Labour Market an asset
- Recent experience with eTAs, TRVs, permits for study, coop and work (including PGWP), Express Entry, PNP, Port of Entry immigration processes etc.
- Proven experience in dealing with global mobility issues
- Experience providing immigration advice and services, preferably in a university setting
- Experience in developing and delivering presentations and/or workshops.
- Experience in working in a culturally diverse environment.
- Strong written and communication skills
- Excellent customer service and effective listening skills
- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential matters
- Preference will be given to applicants who speak a second language and/or have international experience (i.e. lived internationally, studied internationally) and can relate to mobility challenges first hand.
