**What you will do**:
The Machining Manager is responsible for managing and directing the machining department, ensuring that employees work safely while meeting and maintaining quality and productivity requirements.

You will also:

- Manage and support employees working in the machine shop (3 shifts)
- Provide orientation and training to new employees in all aspects of the department
- Conduct shift meetings to share information, communicate direction and priorities and hear / respond to employee concerns
- Support CNC Programmer/Machinist with CNC programming activities and machine set-up
- Schedule employees, assign work and manage performance, providing regular feedback
- Ensure that standard operating procedures and quality standard are followed; develop procedures where they are absent
- Plan and coordinate department resources to meet production requirements as per Sales and Operations Plan
- Manage product flow/processes
- Monitor production throughout the day and react as necessary when the schedule is not maintained
- Monitor productivity (output vs. established routing times) and improve operations efficiency
- In conjunction with Supply Chain, maintain predetermined inventory levels of raw components and tooling
- Monitor inventory levels
- Reorder and restock as necessary
- Monitor inventory of WIP
- Promote the 5S program, ensuring that machine maintenance is performed, and housekeeping is maintained for individual workstations, work areas and department
- Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Co-ordinate cycle counts and yearly inventory
- Support employee development, providing guidance and training where needed
- Monitor and approve employee hours and manage attendance issues
- With support from Human Resources, issue corrective counselling to employees when necessary
- Maintain efficient staffing levels in all areas and work with Human Resources when adjustments in staffing levels are required
- Promote Health and Safety
- Enforce safety policies and procedures
- Identify and correct safety hazards
- Conduct safety talks
- Investigate incidents and near misses; make suggestions for corrective action or improvements as appropriate
- Work with Human Resources to manage workplace injuries and early and safe return to work
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Do you have what it takes?**
- Solid theoretical and practical experience with CNC programming (Mastercam), machine set-up, and machining is mandatory
- Strong computer skills: proficient in MS Office (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Word), working knowledge of ERP systems experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365)
- Must possess strong human relations skills, leadership skills and maturity of judgment
- Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow company instructions, company processes, administrative policies and procedures, and export compliance regulations.

**Qualifications Required Are**:

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma preferred, with preference given to Engineering Technician/Technologist and/or applicable trade certificate
- Solid theoretical and practical experience with CNC programming (Mastercam), machine set-up, and machining is mandatory
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing or supervising staff in a manufacturing / production environment
- Experience with 5S, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing an asset
