As the Marine Interface, Supervisor, you will be an integral part of the Trans Mountain Team and will be based at our Burnaby/Westridge Marine Terminal location. Reporting to the Manager, Marine Logistics, the Marine Interface, Supervisor is a key point of contact and serves as the Trans Mountain representative for all aspects of pre-screening, inspection, berthing, loading (or discharge) of cargo oil and abnormal operations, including interaction with the vessel’s crew.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Monitors the condition of the vessel and its crews during assigned rotating 12-hour shifts at the Burnaby/Westridge Marine Terminal.
- Oversees cargo transfer operations to ensure safety, efficiency and conduct in accordance with all applicable legislation, statutes, regulations, guidelines, operating procedures and policies, including those documented in Integrated Safety and Loss Management System (“ISLMS”).
- Ensure safe cargo transfer between terminal and vessel is carried out safely by clear communications and regular inspections onboard as well as ensure all risks are addressed and mitigated while following safety regulations.
- Review the suitability of vessels nominated for cargo transfer at WMT (Westridge Marine Terminal) in accordance with standards and procedures published by Trans Mountain in ISLMS and recommend the vessel be either accepted or denied access to the terminal.
- Communicate with all necessary parties for consideration of their input and information throughout the different phases of a vessel port call, i.e., through vessel nomination, vetting and oil cargo transfer, to ensure continued safety and efficiency.
- Ensure safety, protection of the environment and protection of the terminal including, where necessary, requesting immediate suspension of cargo transfer or recommending refusal of berthing or casting-off of the vessel.
- Provides oversight and advice towards ensuring all applicable legislation, statutes, regulations, guidelines, operating procedures and policies including those documented in Trans Mountain’s ISLMS will be followed during the vessel’s call at the WMT.
- Confirm the vessel's condition, equipment, systems and crew meet or exceed the standards required by ISLMS, legislation, statute, regulation, guidelines, operating policy and procedure.
- Document the entire port call period comprising of the activities related to the vessel operations, including but not limited to, completion of the applicable ISLMS forms and other relevant documents served onboard; and include a log of relevant events including delays, stoppages, instructions and other communications. Maintaining records and activities in Ocean Smart software system.
- Provide local knowledge and prompt on-scene guidance to the Vessel and Terminal during an emergency.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**:

- Management Level Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) issued with no limitation under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). Master, Chief Mate or Chief Engineer.
- Advanced Oil Tanker Training.
- Valid provincial driver's license.
- Sailing experience on oil or chemical tankers in a Master (preferred) or Chief Officer role.
- Experience as a SIRE or CDI Inspector (preferred).
- Crude Oil/Chemical Tanker experience, including experience as Master or Chief Officer.
- Experience in a similar role of a Loading Master or Pollution Safety Advisor (PSA) onboard oil and/or chemical tankers or involving ship vetting, survey, auditing, etc.
- Familiar with all applicable legislation, statutes, regulations, guidelines, operating procedures and policies, including appropriate ISLMS procedures.
- Proficiency communicating in English, good communication skills; displays diplomacy, tact and ability to act and manage stressful situation in case of an emergency.
- Familiar with the regulatory requirements governing the safe transportation of petroleum products by sea. This pertains to vessel transfer operations to or from vessels, including non-self-propelled barges, and transfer operations to or from oil handling facilities.
- Familiar with marine tankers and oil terminal industry standard operating practices such as recommendations of the OCIMF and ISGOTT.
