**Requisition ID**: 148989 We are committed to investing in our employees and helping you continue your career at Scotiabank. **What You Will Do**: - Leads the estate and trust administration of more complex accounts with assistance and support of Trust Administrator, Tax Officer and Estate & Trust Advisor and Regional Trust Administrator and Review Officer - Reviews all new estate and trust account documents and related forms for thoroughness, accuracy and consistency - Ensures all estate and trust administration is in accordance with terms of the governing documents, relevant provincial legislation and MD policy. - Preparation of all required technical correspondence and documents, ranging from government, financial institutions, other organizations, beneficiaries, co-executors and others (for either direct mailing by STO, or to Estate and Trust Advisor if destined for clients) - Identifies matters requiring the exercise of discretion, and participates in and assists the Discretionary Decision Process by gathering relevant technical information and resources, making recommendations, and preparing minutes properly documenting decisions taken, in accordance with governing documents, applicable legislation, and MD Policy. - Oversees the financial and estate data input into Estate system for production of client statements - Ensures inventories (assets and liabilities) for all new estates are accurately prepared; - Participates in collaborative tax planning and execution of strategy with Tax Officer and Estate & Trust Advisor to minimize income tax owing by estate, beneficiaries or deceased - Gathers and assembles information required for preparation of tax returns (terminal T1, T3, etc.) - Develops, co-ordinates and implements the detailed procedures for all processes to facilitate efficient estate settlement. - Communicates regularly with Estate and Trust Advisors, Tax Officer, and other internal service providers, both informally and formally, to ensure efficient and timely flow of information to all interested parties; conveys technical material in a manner that is understandable, orally and in writing - Maintains status checklists and reports on administration progress, including compliance with MDPT Service Standards, for review by Manager, Estate & Trust Administration and Senior Management - Accountable to ensure that matters highlighted on Regular Account Reviews are cleared or responded to, as appropriate, within prescribed time frames **What You Need**: - University Degree or Equivalent - Accreditation (STI-Personal Trust) from Trust/Bankers Institute, or equivalent - Canadian Securities Course - Knowledge of relevant legislation, taxes and government filing requirements regarding estates and trusts - Bilingualism an asset - Ten years experience in estate and trust administration (Quebec Civil Code and Common Law) - Detailed knowledge of trust systems and reporting - Responsibility for complete estate and trust administration process - Ability to work cohesively with peers and service partners - Ability to guide and mentor others in estate and trust settlement process **What You Bring**: - Excellent communication (verbal and written) - Strong inter-personal, organization and time management - Analytical, problem solving and judgement skills - Ability to set priorities as to importance and quickly zero in on critical tasks; anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks identifying solutions - High degree of resourcefulness and judgement. **What Success Looks Like**: - You are passionate about the MD value proposition and actively look to acquire new clients. - You are constantly learning and honing your skills. - You are technology savvy and endeavor to find new and exciting ways to use technology in the servicing of your client.
