Concierge (Evenings/nights)

Marina Point Village is looking to hire highly a motivated and energetic full-time Concierge. This position is a unionized role with CUPE Local 5482. Please note that this role is strictly **evenings and nights only **and will assist the facility in the environmental services department.

- An understanding of the needs and issues of the older adult is required.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
- Availability to work night shifts, and weekends is required.
- Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures is a requirement.
- An understanding of effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices is required.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, or as part of a team is required.
- Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs required.
- Good attendance record is required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
- TB testing is required.

**Tasks & Responsibilities**
- Complete nightly schedule of cleaning, building safety & security duties as assigned.
- Process and complete all facility laundry as per policy and procedure.
- Participate in rounds, safety and door checks as part of duties as assigned.
- Observe and report changes in residents/tenants; report changes to Resident Services team member according to facility policy, while maintaining confidentiality
- Provide supportive emergent care to residents as needed during acute crisis or emergencies.
- Carry handheld telephone and be responsible to answer telephone calls to the home while on duty.
- Work as a vital and contributing member of a team.
- Assist in meeting emergent physical, emotional and psychological needs of residents as directed.
- Participate in staff development, safety, quality assurance, environmental and infection control programs
- Deal courteously and respectfully with staff, residents/tenants, resident/tenant families and visitors
- Provide after-hours supervision of building and fire safety system, participate in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
- Complete documentation as appropriate, per facility policies and guidelines.
- Report all accidents or incidents involving residents, tenants, families, visitors and personnel to the Nursing Supervisor or Administrator and complete the appropriate incident report
- Assist residents with ambulation, when necessary
- Provide emergency first aid/care until emergency services arrives, or the person is able to go elsewhere for medical care.
- Assist with maintaining accurate records for “extra charges” when applicable
- Provides back up to other administrative roles as needed
- Cross trained on emergency contingency plans for urgent resident/tenant supports of daily living (meals, meds, housekeeping, etc.)
- Other duties that may be assigned by Manager

This position is part of CUPE Local 5482.
- Our Covid-19 Vaccination Policy is currently placed on abeyance. This means that the Policy on Covid-19 Vaccination is paused at this time; however, it is not cancelled and could be re-instated at a future date if public health conditions warrant it, or through guidance from federal, provincial, or local public health authorities. The evolution of the virus and the course of the disease activity are difficult to predict and it may be necessary to reinstate the Policy in full or in part, on short notice_
