**Parking and By-law Enforcement Officer**

**_ (Temporary mid-May to mid-September)_**

This position requires the ensuring of compliance with and to enforce by-laws and certain provincial statues with particular emphasis on parking enforcement and Lot Maintenance.

To be eligible for this position, you have a valid driver’s license and you possess or are working towards a college diploma in Law and Security or Police Foundations. You are able to work in both an office environment and field work in all weather conditions. You are self-confident and skilled in conflict resolution/mediation. You exercise self-control, tact, discretion and confidentiality. You effectively and accurately organize, prioritize and complete tasks with limited supervision and limited re-work to meet strict deadlines. **Position Objective**

Enforce/gain compliance with municipal by-laws during peak demand periods.

**Duties Responsibilities**
- Conduct patrols; administer and enforce the Town’s by-laws, particularly those regarding parking and Lot Maintenance in consultation with full-time municipal law enforcement officers.
- Collect and prepare evidence; swear informations; lay charges; prepare court files; serve summonses.
- Record/maintain accurate, comprehensive notes of all complaints, investigations and enforcement activities; maintain a confidential, effective and comprehensive records management system.
- Enhance and ensure the welfare and safety of the citizens of the Town by receiving and resolving complaints, gaining voluntary compliance and assisting in mediating disputes.
- Support the By-law Unit with tasks as assigned

**Education Experience**
- OSSD or equivalent
- Post-secondary education in or working towards a college diploma in Law and Security or Police Foundations
- Valid drivers’ license with driving record acceptable to The Corporation

**Knowledge**
- Applied, technical knowledge of MS Office
- Knowledge of investigative and law enforcement practices and procedures
- Knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act and rules of procedure
- General knowledge of municipal by-laws
- General knowledge of good customer service practices
