My First School Daycare is looking for an energetic and passionate Cook to join our Team Someone who will utilize their time, creativity and skills to provide nutritional lunches and snacks for our children.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Receive and store food using sanitary food handling and storage following York Region Public Health requirements.
- Prepare Lunch, Morning and Afternoon Snacks, ensuring there are enough portions for each child based on age and allergy/food sensitivities.
- Ensure safe storage for all food and materials, in addition to checking the foods prior to use for any signs of spoilage or mold, first in first out rule followed.
- Maintain a clean workspace compliant with York Region Public Health standards.
- Participate in program-related cleaning and housekeeping activities and maintaining supplies and equipment in an appropriate manner.
- Responsible to maintain the kitchen's inventory, ordering just enough food to make sure necessary ingredients are always on hand without any going to waste.
- Prepare food shopping lists and organize the food after it is delivered to the Daycare.
- Washing and sanitizing all dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils and materials operating and maintaining the commercial dishwasher.
- Ensure records and documentation are accurate and up to date (cleaning schedules, refrigerator and food temperatures, etc)
- Work in accordance with the policies and guidelines set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, and York Region Public Health.
- Full fill the duties of an Early Childhood Assistant in the classrooms, as needed for ratios, etc.
- Support and maintain all aspects of children's safety ad well being.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and workshops.

**Qualification and Skills Job Requirements**:

- Must have or be willing to obtain prior to start; current Food Handlers Certification.
- Must have updated Police Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Updated immunization record, including 2-step TB test required.
- First Aid and CPR Level C
- Experience working with children in a child care setting.
- Sensitive, friendly and mature individual who is able to relate well with children, parents, and other members of the staff.
- Physically able to participate in the program with children inside and outside the classroom.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- Well developed problem-solving, conflict resolution skills and good judgement.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$18.50 per hour
