**Resident Resource Coordinator, College of Medicine**:
**PRIMARY PURPOSE**:The Resident Wellness Coordinator (Non-academic support) is responsible for the non-academic support across the PGME program. This position is within the PGME domain that will assist residents in coping with professional and personal challenges they may encounter by providing individual resident support, accommodations, access/referral to counseling, financial advising, student loans and other resources for residents while developing proactive strategies and workshops around health and wellness issues and career transitions. The position is responsible for providing accurate and timely advice to the Associate Dean, PGME Committee, and Program Directors on continuing and emergent issues with respect to resident wellbeing.

**NATURE OF WORK**:Reporting to the Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education and the PGME Manger this position will establish and maintain professional relationships with various stakeholders such as residents, faculty, departments and external agencies. The incumbent will work within a team as well as independently. The position requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing deadlines and multiple tasks. All work is to be in line with applicable accrediting bodies’ standards and within College of Medicine and University policies and procedures. Some travel within the province may be required.

**TYPICAL DUTIES**:
Working as part of the Resident Resource Office, this position will hold the following accountabilities:
**Wellness and Implementation**

- Health and wellness program development along the eight dimensions of wellness including but not limited to work-life balance and dealing with financial stress
- Ensure policies, both university and SHA, are followed and upheld with respect to intimidation and harassment
- Provide direction for and access to counseling when residents are coping with stress and fatigue management, adverse events, modified learning plans, academic difficulty, transition, etc.

**Non-Academic Support**

- Understand and provide guidance and support to the residents on PGME policies and procedures. Ensure development and implementation of effective policies, procedures and referral mechanisms related to the accommodation of residents with disabilities, including transmissible diseases. This also includes the implementation of specific actions related to accommodation
- Liaise both internally, provincially and nationally with stakeholders for evidence of best practice, resources and tools for implementation

**Resource Coordinator**

- Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive catalogue of resource materials and information on relevant programs and supports available
- Act as a resource for PGME learners seeking advice or information about resources available on or off campus
- Participate in and act as a resource to committees such as the PGME Committee and Residency Training Committees

**Outreach and Education Role**

- Design and deliver specific activities for resident wellbeing, such as workshops, using a cross-functional team which may include the PGME office, different residency programs (Program Directors and their Administrators) and other health care professionals and linkages with external agencies such as SHA, CPSS, SaskDocs and SMA
- Understand SHA and University health and safety procedures for resident education and guidance
- Develop and disseminate a resident health and education bulletin for the PGME annual report
- Identify instances in the academic process where regulations and procedures could be improved

**Liaison and Collaborator Role**

- Liaise and coordinate with other departments and units within the University, faculty and external agencies that provide support services to residents
- Liaise with other PGME offices across Canada and beyond for evidence of best practices, resources and tools
- Liaise with other third-party organizations where the Residents are members including, but not limited to, CPSS, RDoS, SHA, RCPSC, CFPC, CMPA to understand their policies and codes of conduct
- Identify general issues impacting the resident group and liaise with the PGME Committee

**Advisory Role Related to Transitions to Practice**

- Work with Program Directors, Associate Dean PGME, SaskDocs and SHA along with external stakeholders to assist and facilitate entry into independent practice. Ensure that modifications to training are such that the overall standards and objectives of training are met. Work with programs for advice on transitions to practice.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:Master’s level training in medical education and working with adults, or a master’s level training/background in social work, human resources, or psychology. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**: At least three to five years of related experience. Experience working in a university environme
