We are the Liard First Nation, a vibrant Indigenous community located in Watson Lake, Yukon. Our community values tradition, unity, and respect. We are seeking a Communications Director who is empathetic, respectful of our values, and committed to effectively communicating our community's vision and initiatives.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Develop and implement communication strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall community objectives.
2. Manage the community's internal and external communications, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
3. Oversee public relations, including media relations and community engagement.
4. Work with community leaders and stakeholders to identify communication needs and opportunities.
5. Ensure the effective communication of community initiatives and achievements.
6. Report to community leadership and provide decision support through communication metrics.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

**Requirements**:
1. Proven working experience in communications or a related field.
2. Deep understanding of and respect for First Nations cultures and traditions.
3. Knowledge of communication principles and best practices.
4. Ability to strategize and problem solve.
5. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and presentation skills.
6. Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the community.
7. In-depth knowledge of media relations and digital platforms.
8. Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, a related field or demonstrated core competencies.
