The Pathways Coach and Recruitment Officer works directly with trainees to provide individualized support and coaching that prepares them for successful careers in their trades. The ultimate goal is to recruit and onboard youth who strive to make a difference in their lives or communities and to connect trainees with sustainable careers that sets the trainee and the employer up for success. Therefore, a successful Pathway Coach must have a deep understanding of their trainees and the various career options available to them.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Recruitment**
- Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to recruit ideal program participants.
- Organize and participate in job fairs, networking events, and other recruitment activities to build relationships with potential partners and participants.
- Align recruitment strategy with Pathways Coach duties to onboard youth participants prior to the program start.
**Pathways and Job Readiness**
- Build trust and rapport with participants throughout their 9-12 weeks (and beyond) of training.
- Provide personalized career coaching, helping participants identify career goals and develop actionable plans.
- Assess participants' skills, interests, and experiences to guide them toward suitable career pathways.
- Facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions focused on goal setting, decision-making, and overcoming barriers to employment.
- Maintain a caseload with a target outcome of +80% of trainees successfully placed in sustainable trades careers within each quarter.
- Develop and deliver job readiness training, including resume writing, interview techniques, and workplace etiquette.
- Create engaging materials to support job readiness learning and retention.
- Monitor and evaluate participant progress, providing feedback and additional support as needed.
- Host routine check-ins to manage participants' goal setting and career planning, determining employment pathways and training opportunities.
- Conduct follow-ups 12 weeks post-program for participants who have not yet found employment, offering continued support and wrap-around services.
**Administration**
- Collect and administer surveys and feedback throughout the project to meet reporting guidelines.
- Ensure accurate, up-to-date data through systems like the employment prospect roster, Student Pathways Master Tracker, and PIT data collection.
- Create new tools, forms, and processes tailored to grant requirements and participant success.
- Submit notes, testimonials, photos, and success stories as required for funding reports.
- Attend weekly meetings, support the team with intake interviews, and undertake additional tasks assigned by the Manager.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in career coaching, job readiness training, or recruitment.
- Strong understanding of the job market and local employment trends.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Google platform tools and other relevant software.
